About Me:
During the day, I work as general counsel to a major transportation company. At night (well, actually, in the wee hours of the morning), I write legal thrillers.

I was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, and upon graduating high school, I took off for college at MIT. (Why MIT, if I ended up a lawyer? A long story I'll be glad to share with you when we meet in person.) After MIT, I attended Columbia Law School, got my law degree in 1979, and I've been practicing law ever since.

As a lawyer, I write for a living, and I guess there are cynics who’d even say lawyers write fiction for a living. So somewhere along the way, I started writing novels.

Yep, we are. I'm on deadline at the moment so I don't spend a lot of time at either place. Hope to make up for that soon.

smokin' pot, smokin' hot, what's the diff? I did mention Linday's coke so at least I have some drug chat in addition to weather. Hope all's well in New York. I'm homesick.

Hi Ken--it's nice to meet you. My son-in-law's an attorney so the profession has a special place in my heart. Silent Counsel sounds really good--I like the cover, too! I'll look forward reading to it.
  • Krystal Waters

I'm jealous that I'm neither in Seattle nor headed for Anchorage. Send anyone and everyone my best. Also, rumor is you're on the ballot for the MWA-NY board. I'll appreciate your company.

Hey Ken--I just saw your TV interview on Good Day AZ and I loved it. You showcased your book very well and the interviewer was good too. Great job!! What a compelling story for your debut book!
  • Jordan Dane

I loved how the interview went. The focus was really on an interesting aspect of your book and was really intriguing. A great job by you and the interviewer. We could all learn a lesson in it. Thanks for sharing.
  • Lawrence Kelter

Hi, Ken: Congratulations on the new book & it's success. I saw your interview on GM AZ -nice job; you look completely at ease. Have you done this before? I'm an MWA member & have an office in Parsippany. Give me a shout back.

    Ken:
I missed most of the MWA events this year. I work for HSBC and well...you've heard about the credit crunch--free time has been difficult to come by. I'll try to get back into the swing in '08.
  • Karen J. Laubenstein

Hi Ken, really enjoyed Sandra Parshall's interview. It sure expanded on that blurb we put in the Bouchercon program! And congrats on all the great reviews on SILENT COUNSEL. Wishing you the best for the holidays, from Alaska.
  • Karen J. Laubenstein

Hi Ken, you added tremendously to B'con this year, too. It looks like I'll be at LCC09 Hawaii, but not in Denver. Too much going on here in March. I stayed at BU when I lived and worked in Boston. I grew up in Maine, though, about 2 hours away. Worked for the Kennedys for 3 years at both the Boston office and in the Senate. Different life and as far away from life in Alaska that it seems like it all happened to someone else. I loved going to the North End and hope to go back sometime and hear those brogues. I've got the rss link to Poes Deadly Daughters on our AKSinC site, and am thoroughly enjoying it from afar. And reading about you on DorothyL now and then, too. Have a great time in Denver and for the holidays. Looking forward to your next book.
  • Bill Cameron

Howdy, Ken! Not sure on Denver, but it's looking unlikely at this point. I'm registered, but it's starting to look like it won't be possible for me. Alas.

    "Hello, Craw."
    "No, not Craw! Craw!"

    Sorry about that, Chief! ;)
  • Kelli Stanley

Thanks, Ken dear! :) You know I love to celebrate! :)

Speaking of which, I think we'll be doing a lot of that at LCC ... can't wait to see you. :)

    Hi Ken
Congratulations on Silent Counsel. I keep hearing great things about it. I enjoy your posts on the mystery lists too.
  • L.J. Sellers

I ordered it from Amazon, it seems like 9 years ago, but haven't received it yet. In theory, it's in my TBR pile.
