I'm currently without a publisher or an agent, yet I'm still working on two new novels (the 7th featuring Jack and Jamie, a 1st featuring Lou Kelso, a New York private eye), plus a book on canine behavior and training, and a Jack and Jamie short story.
I also work full time training dogs and solving behavioral problems.

    Hi -
Thanks for stopping by. As you can tell, we love a book with a dog on the cover! Was at the Greenwich Kennel Club show a few weeks ago. Dog lovers seem to love mysteries.

Lee...yes, I see you are a dog person, too. Sadly, I lost mine on September 11, of all days. She always had flair. Born on Thanksgiving and died 15 years later on the anniversary of a tragic event. Someday we'll get another. Someday. Thanks for the note!

Lee, yep, Bull-terrier pup. Unfortunately when he was about 5 months we had to find him a new home because of allergies, but he was just a great little guy, amazing sweet personality.
  • Dave Zeltserman

It was heartbreaking giving him up. I couldn't have wished for a better dog. Just an amazingly gentle creature with a fantastic personality. But we did find him a great home with sveral acres for him to run around and an older female bull-terrier in the family.

Thanks, Lee. I've got my fingers crossed I'll be seeing my characters on the small screen soon!
    Great to meet you!

Thanks for inviting as a friend on this site. As you can see, I have a couple of four-legged writing assistants, myself. Seems odd then that I use cats in my stories as little side-bars. That's because I also have four cats. It's easier to have a pack of critters when you live in the country like I do. Out here I use the stimulation of the corn and soy beans growing to help me get going when I sit down to write. I'll look for your books the next time I'm in Banres and Nobel. When you have time, check out the excerpts of my three novels on my Crimespace page. Oh, have you checked out Nikki Leigh's Crimespace page? Her current novel cover has a dog on the front and I believe it is an integral part of the story. I'm going to read her book as soon as I get a chance--currently promoting Blue Heron Marsh.

That is great news, Lee! Seriously, your books are so awesome...there is so much "meat" in the diaglogue and the characters have so much depth and reality...I love them!! I just finished "dogged pursuit" last night...had me on pins and needles there a few times...Got "unleashed" in the mail yesterday from a second hand store for a reasonable price...I'm just missing one now, I think! I'll check out that e-book, but, I really need a book in my hand, old school style! Lori

Hi Lee, Good to know you. A fellow dog lover too. One of mine has a barking problem. I wish you were nearer, could use a good trainer. It's always great to meet another author, and I love your book covers.

    Hi Lee,

Thanks. tilly is my constant companin when i'm writing, (and always), but when someone knocks on teh door she goes ballistic and we have a job getting to the door. i think she is being over-protective of the family, and it's a real job to get her to stop barking. She also does it when I leave the house as if she doesn't want me to go without her. She is a rescue dog and was abused before we got her. We've seen a behaviorist who ghas tried averytihg from shakers to compressed air without success!

Hi Lee, Thanks so much for the information. We'll give it a try.In all other respects Tilly is 'the perfect dog', and has even been learning search and rescue work. That's her in teh photo by the way. She's a Bedlington cross. We also have Dylan, a pure Bedlington Terrier, and Charlie, a Cairn/Westie cross. All were abused prior to finding a home with us, and we love them all very much.
    Best regards
    Brian

Hi Lee. Hana, my "brat terrier" is just like Mickey in your blog. Leash aggression X 100! I'll have to read a copy of Kevin's book and try the tennis ball method.
  • Dawn M. Kravagna

Hi. I saw your posting on Viansa's site. I'l have to check out your dog mystery novels. I love mysteries with dogs in them.
  • Dawn M. Kravagna

Hi, Lee. Promise to check out your books next month. Got a huge TBR pile but I enjoy dog books. I'm looking forward to "lots of dogs". Are you considering self-publishing or looking for a new publisher? I'm looking at your book covers (which are great)and don't see a Yorkie. Some new lady readers may be attracted to a Yorkie cover. (I hope you're not gagging right now.) I DO refuse to allow a bow to be placed into my Silky terrier's fur: He's a boy dog.....despite his size and coloring. Take care. Best of luck!

I've been AWOL for a month, helping to take care of my ailing grandmother. She's made an amazing recovery for 93.

I hope you belong to a local mystery group (MWA or SIC) for some encouragement and support in this interim period.
  • Lee Charles Kelley

Thanks, Dawn. There's a Yorkie in my 3rd novel. He just plays a minor role, though. The dog stars of my books appear in alphabetical order: Airedale, beagle, corgi, Dalmatian, English setter, fox terrier.

My next book will feature a greyhound.
