When I moved to NYC years ago I didn't buy maps or guidebooks for navigation, but Matt Scudder and Robin Hudson novels instead... nice to see you here.

You have no idea! The interview went for almost a month of emails, and more than half of it went on the cutting room floor. My review partner, Delphine, met Sparkle in Paris several times, too.

Sparkle Hayter is the most witty, charming and brilliant human I have had the pleasure to meet, and that includes the two nobel prize winners I know. Sparkle's brain is more powerful than a super-computer, able to whisk together multiple divergent subject pieces into a souflé of conversational joy. She is up on tech topics, and yet is grounded enough to publically mourn the loss of a kitty cat.

If you ever get the chance to see or meet Sparkle, cancel any other engagements you have to so you can accept that opportunity.

Hi Sparkle....I haven't seen you around in years. I think we were members of a Prodigy mystery group several years ago, like 1993 or 1994. Nice seeing you here--I still email with some of the old gang--Susan, Suzannne, Geo, Georgeann.

You probably don't know me but I lurked on DL for many years (still do, mostly, even though I have 4 books out now) and always LOVED your posts. You are one funny lady. Glad I can tell you that you are remembered and I'm happy to see you here.

You are all too too kind -- and thank you for that!

Hi Sparkle. Love the Theda Bara pic. Ever see the one of her crouched over the skeleton looking even more vampish?
  • CT

Just saying hi from downunder. I lived in NY for about eleven years from the mid-1980's to 90's, and try to get back each year for a visit.

Hi, Sparkle - I'm such a fan. Great to see you here.
  • Dianne Day

Sprak!!!! I am SO glad to see you here!
  • Ann Cornellier

Hi, Sparkle! I enjoyed your posts when you used to appear on RAM in the old days. Nice to see you again!
  • LC Fraser

Hi Sparkle, thanks for letting me be a friend. I would say something but I always get tongue tied with authors whose work I like. Well except for Donna and Randy but they don't count. Sort of.
  • Merrill Young

Well, if Lynne is brave enough to say hello, so am I.
I do believe you are a fellow Edmontonian, but of a somewhat newer/better vintage.
Wish I would have thought of Theda Bara.
    Ratz.
  • LC Fraser

Merlot - you would have been an awesome Theda Barra. Lets do a costume party with movies as the theme - bet there are books on that subject.
  • JackBludis

Is that Theda Barra as Mata Hari?
  • Lesa Holstine

Hi Sparkle. I had to write. I remember you from your very active years on DorothyL. We miss your humor there.
  • Delphine Cingal

Hi Sparkle. Nice to see you here. Let me know how you are doing and when you are next coming over to France (next time don't let me know you are in Paris 2 days before you leave. ;-))) Try to come over for Neuilly Plaisance, it would be wonderful.
  • Jordan Dane

Hey Sparkle--Do you and Madonna shop at the same lingerie store? Victoria would have a hard time keeping that contraption a secret.
  • Merrill Young

    Note to Jack-
My costume sources tell me that Sparkles avatar shows Ms. Bara(the original vamp) portraying Cleopatra.

Theda was wonderful, such an unexpected star, and in defiance of the odds. I change my avatar a lot though, to suit my mood, so she is going to be retired for a while, until that vampish mood strikes me again.
  • Delphine Cingal

Thanks for the chatter on my chatterwall. Keep fingers and toes crossed. Yoou know who I am voting for anyway!
  • Merrill Young

    Re changing avatars-
Confuses the heck out of some folks, but makes me smile!
I loved Merman in There's no Business Like Show Business- wish I could have seen her live.
