Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Yes it is a small world. My daughter attends Chicola Baptist now but it's not her church since my father is an Orthodox Priest and I don't go to church much.

I take it the marriage is what took you to Kentucky? Do you still visit the area? Have family here? I'm around but hardly out and about since I work at home now. Hope you have a good day and a Merry Christmas - E :)

yes - I just don't like typing it all out - and not many people, even from South Carolina, really know where it is - E :)

No, not from Belton - I was raised an army brat and have lived in quite a few places. I moved from Columbia to HP in June of 1998 for a job transfer. My kids have pretty much grown up in this area since the youngest was only 3, almost 4, when I moved here and is now 13. My middle child was 5, almost 6, and my oldest was in 8th grade and is now in college.

The geography mystery series will hopefully be published on the 5-minute mystery site (which is to be up and running after the first of the year sometime) or just published to be used with the schools curricula - not sure - as they are working on contracts and all - but I'm working on the stories so hopefully by the middle of January, I'll have a little cache of them ready to go. My story in the anthology is a paranormal/ghost/love story too - so check it out - E :)

Wow - someone from Belton, that is unusual. I have lived here now for about 9-1/2 years - moved here for a job transfer originally. The only thing I have published right now is a short story in the SCWW anthology, The Petigru Review, which is available on amazon.com or through the editor at a discount, k.coyle@myscww.org. I'm entering a story into the SC Fiction Project but it's a paranormal kind of love story. I have a YA fantasy I'm about to edit and expand out for possible publication. And my latest project is a geography mystery series where the states are actually the mystery - hopefully for publication in the schools and to supplement the curricula - I will keep everyone posted - E :)

Hi Charlene- Silent Spring is a good choice. We had paperback copy of Silent Spring in the house while I was growing up, and I looked through it a lot over the years. I would think that libraries and used bookstores would have it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were still in print.

There are also some good websites on Rachel Carson. You may have seen the link at my website, where I wrote a brief note about the disinformation campaign being orchestrated by the "anti-environment" political camp. Kind of hard to believe that such a "camp" exists, but it does.

In case you haven't seen it, my environmental blog comments at http://greenchemistry.wordpress.com/2007/10/03/free-rachel-carson/ and links to http://aaronsw.jottit.com/rachelcarson.

I haven't written anything about crime, or any fiction, in a few weeks. I was sort of consumed by the environmental stuff, but the web can be a dangerous and insidious time sink, so I'm going to pull back a bit and take care of other things I need to do.

Take care, Jim

Best wishes, Jim

Hi Charlene- nice to see another scientist with environmental interests here at "Murder Central". I've been enjoyong the show "Damages" this year- can't wait for the next one. I look forward to sharing favorite books with you. SOme of mine are found on my crimespace page and some on my fiction blog. I also started an environmental blog last week, from the perspective of a chemist who has worked half his career in industry. It's a little different from the typical environmental perspective, and I hope it helps out the discussion. Best wishes, Jim

I see you like "Bones." I think the new season premiers this week. Amazon tells me that people who buy my books also buy James Patterson and Dan Brown. Good company. I just posted a recent review of my current novel on my Crimespace Blog. Hope you'll check it out along with the other infomarion there.

Smiles,
