My Latest Book

And late is the operative word here. As I recall I finished Tree Huggers in June of 2004. But it's going to be in print soon. My publisher (Zumaya Publications) is talking next month and I'm hoping for the best. But I know stuff happens. So I'm just saying soon. Very soon.

If you're interested, I've posted a chapter on my website judy5cents.com.

Joy and Repetition

I have once again finished all the required edits on my new mystery Tree Huggers (as I expected, the editor had more corrections) and the publication date is sometime in December.

Which means it's time to get in gear for marketing.

I hate marketing. Like most writers, I'm perfectly happy to sit hunched over my computer weaving tales of mystery (or romance or horror or long depessing accounts of our own miserable lives and calling it…

FINISHED!!!!!!

I just clicked the send button forwarding the completely edited version of Tree Huggers to my editor. It's done, it's over, it's gone, it's an SEP (Somebody Else's Problem). This thing been dogging me all summer, and I'm just glad that I don't have to think about it any more.

The Magic of Harry Potter

The True Magic of Harry Potter

I have written a thank you note to JK Rowling. Hand written on paper, of course, as that is how thank you notes should be done.

I felt compelled to write to her, in gratitude for something her latest and last book "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows" brought to me.

I have been reading the Harry Potter books to my daughter since she was five years old. It has been our tradition that with each new book, I read it out loud to her. With the…

Editing Blues

Writing is fun. You can create your own universe. You control everything that happens in your story. Need a reason for people to walk quickly past your murderer as he disposes of a body in the backyard? You make it rain, and not just a little rain, it's a torrential downpour. You're master of the weather. How cool is that?

Eding on the other hand, is a tedious chore, a pain in the patootie, and absolutely no fun at all. As I plow through my…
