What do you think is the best way to get the word out about a release?

I'm tussling with this topic (it's at the top of my "Things to consider in 2008" List). I don't think there's a magic bullet, excuse the crime pun. I think it's going to be a matter of creating some interest in me, my topics, etc., and then launching assorted books out there and see what strikes a chord.

I suspect once I have a few books out, that might generate interest in my backlist and since I'm e-published, that backlist is always going to be available for ordering.

So far I've got 2 romantic suspense books out with older hero/heroine and within a month I'll have another 'sexy/cozy' mystery out (again: older h/h). My books have been described as: 'your plots are unusual and intelligent and your characters unique. In fact, I'd like to be {insert character name here}'. So I think I'm on the right track with the writing.

Now it's a matter of trying to figure out the business end of things .... It's an admirable goal for 2008, if nothing else.

i think quotes/blurbs help, but i'm sure you already know that. early and strong reviews that you can post various places...

i also keep my ulcer meds within reach at all times.
