Well, of course, I left my camera in New York--it's supposed to be on its way back to me today, but in the meantime, I thought that I'd post this photo provided to me by New York Japion, a weekly publication. I'm not quite sure how to make in vertical, so here we are, sideways.

Edgar Week was great; I'm indeed walking on air. Of course, the house is a mess, I think I scratched my cornea with a bad contact at the L.A. Times Festival of Books yesterday, and my middle grade book is due in two weeks. But life is still good.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Will this be a collection of Akitada's short stories?

We should collaborate on a short story collection--something about western mystery writers looking at Japan and Japanese mystery writers looking at America. I love comparative literature. I was an international relations major in college and those comparative lit classes were my favorite.

What? This is not your crimespace homepage? My ineptness in navigating, no doubt.
As for everything going well: I've just started on galleys for the next one. At that point, I always despair. My editor is on maternity leave so I won't hear for a while about a short story collection I'm hoping to sell.
I trust things are very well with you. :) And getting even better.

I.J.--

B.G. Ritts kindly made me an Edgar banner, so check out the photo right side up on my crimespace homepage.

Hope everything is going well!

Great dress -- even sideways.

Unfortunately, I can't work any magic on this, as it's the image itself that needs to be rotated. But I like the idea of 500 people tilting their heads to look at it. I'm a little wicked that way.

Great photo, and further congrats to you, Naomi!

Tasmanian woman! Wow, isn't the Internet grand?

Hahahaha!! That is an absolute classic! Congratulations, Naomi! You're perfectly entitled to stand sideways under the circumstances.

Well, I've since figured it out, but I thought I'd just leave it for the sideways metaphor. And besides, I do feel very sideways right now.

Funny how neither of you spilled your drinks in this position...

Mr. Hatadi might have a solution for the sidewayness of the photo. Looks great otherwise.
