I’ll keep the blog brief this week as I’ve just received editorial notes from my publisher on the third book in the Zac Hunter series, The Beholder. The notes are mostly concerned with minor character details (e.g. ensuring that dialogue is consistent, reinforcing motivation, etc) along with a request to cut back on the amount of musical references I’ve dotted throughout the text – a fair point as I did go to town on them in this book! I’ll now be spending the next week or so diligently working through these suggestions to make sure that ‘The Beholder’ is as good as it can possibly be.
On the gig front, I saw Maximo Park at the Norwich U.E.A. last week. This was the first time that I’ve seen them in a small venue (all previous occasions were at the Reading Festival) and the intimacy was well suited to their brand of intelligent indie rock. Highpoints for me were those tracks taken from their second album ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’, although the more recent stuff has tempted me to go out and purchase their latest offering also.
