Hi Eric,
Definitely let me know when you'll be in Chicago and thanks for the comment on my site. I'm still really new to this thing but I'm enjoying learning the ropes.
And, yeah... the machine gun experience was fabulous. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe someday I'll see you on the gun range. Don't forget to look into applying for Firearms & Fiction, in Las Vegas (free for writers), usually in November. I'd love to be able to go back again this year or next.
Take care...
Looking at the last line of your favorites, I think it's time I put my early prejudice aside and finally get around to reading *Moby Dick.* And by-the-way, the designated hitter is an acquired taste, makes for more wide open game.
I think that I might just be at Big Sleep Books on October 21. What time will you be there? Will you be signing books? I live in St. Louis but grew up in Ironton. I still call it my hometown.
Eric, when I get the contract, if it's ok with you, can I go over it with you? I will need some help, and as you said, you have been through this before and I don't have an agent to do the negociations who also have expertise in the business.
I'll just tell you what I told Joanna! The publisher is blu Phier. They are a traditional small press but gaining momentum and wanting to increase thier level of business. We haven't got to the details yet about when the book will be released. They said, it was clean, few errors and good to publish. They also said there was something to do with marketing that they had to go over. I am not sure what he meant but I am sure it will all be dropped on my lap! Now I am just waiting for all the legalities and contracts to get through, signed and start with the marketing. They are givng me a press kit, as many gooks as I need for reviews, ten books of my own to give to my famiy and friends. They set up book signings... They basically do it all.. I just show up! I'll let you know how it goes as we progress and gets closer to the release date. I am nervous but also elated.
Eric! I have great news. I was getting my query letter ready for Janet and recieved an email from a publisher with a great reputation. They are a small press, however this is my first novel to be published. Yay! Thank you for all your encouragement, your advice and most of all, your friendship!
Hi Eric, what an incredible background! Based in Hong Kong no less. And the World Bank and Jakarta. Please tell me you were Not an Economic Hit Man.
Linda Marsa? The names sounds familiar, but I can't place her. I might know it only from a byline.
Best of luck with the coming books. I have two due out about the same time, so we both have our work cut out for the next few months.
thanks so much for the reply and the invite! i wish i was still in my hometown of nyc i'd have such access to libraries. i live in semi rural west yorkshire a million miles away. but what with the internet today, i should do okay. right?!!! seriously, thatnks again.
G'day Eric! Intriguing bio you've go there, mate. I used to work in LA, on Skid Row. That was traveling to a strange place complete with colorful outbursts of language I didn't quite understand. So we have things in common. You're my first Crimespace friend, so you win the toaster. Cheers, ~JHT
I am absolutely amazed by the power of the internet. Here's another great way to promote your books.

Oh yeah, can you give me the details of when your book signing is going to happen in Oregon. I am really interested in going and I would love to meet you as well! Get an autograph and keep it in my library! +) Kris
Ok, I know I am bugging the living day lights out of you, but who would you suggest as being a good agent? I have been looking and haven't found one that is any good. The one I really wanted was Elaine P. English, but she only takes published writers! Ugggg sigh.... I need a little help again! Thank you so much for all you help you have given me... Ahhh, I see Kel is your friend too! She is a sweety!

You and Colin must have had some fun together. I've corresponded with Colin and he has an excellent sense of humor. Very nice to meet you.
