First trip ever to the Superbowl.  I wonder if there's anybody partying on Bourbon Street?

Not really a fan, but I'm very excited for them. It'll be nice to have a team that's never been there in the big game.
That was the greatest football game ever. And I don't even like football.

When they game went into overtime they showed a shot of a deserted Bourbon Street. Completely empty, no one around. After the field goal Troy Aikman said, "I wonder what Bourbon Street looks like now."
I know no one will believe me, but late in the fourth quarter, as Minnesota was driving the ball into field-goal range, I wrote on my FB page "What are the odds that Favre will throw the game-losing interception?" A pattern is a pattern is a pattern, no matter what Jersey it's got on.
Not me, Dan. The Saints. Never been in something like 47 years. No doubt they're a heavy dog in the betting--but I'll take them and 11 points.
There were some of us in Minnesota who were wondering the same thing, Jon. Still, Favre didn't lose the game. We had 6 fumbles and Adrian Peterson's fumble near the goal-line at the end of the first half was a backbreaker. We wouldn't have even made the playoffs if it wasn't for Favre. I just hated to see him end the season and maybe his career on such a lousy note. If he had only run . . .

Happy for New Orleans though. I hope they beat Indianapolis. It should be a real shoot-out between Brees and Manning.
Got to disagree with you here, Chris. As a nouveau-Wisconsinite (been here seven years), I've seen Favre do exactly the same thing again and again. He'll get your team to the playoffs, he'll get you through the first round or two, even--then, at the crucial moment, when the game's tied with a minute or two to play, or you're down by three but driving into field-goal range, he'll do something incredibly goofy that winds up costing you the game. The six fumbles are irrelevant if the game's tied at the two-minute warning--at that point it's the quarterback's job to drive and win. As far as we're concerned here in Cheesehead land, this was the perfect end to a career that should have ended when Favre left Green Bay. Booyah! We'll never forget you, Brent.
I wouldn't disagree with you, Jon, as far as Brett's performance in crunch-time. I'm just saying the Viking's choices for quarterback before Favre were (and still are) Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels. Not exactly pro-bowl choices that were going to lead us into the playoffs.
I get to brag a little: I called that one, almost to the second. I told people all week that if it was a close game, Favre would remember who he was and throw a stupid interception to lose it, and he came through.
The old, now-dead news editor who introduced me to Chandler, Hammett, and Cain previously worked at the N.O. Picayune and was a tireless Saints fan. Carl Cannon was his name. Got drunk once and nearly drove off the Ponchetrain (sp?) bridge. His wife said he had to give up drinking or driving. Carl never drove again. If there's a bar in the afterlife, Carl's toasting his Saints. Probably a little worried about facing Archie Manning's son.
