I have written horror and have eight books out.
After my husband suddenly died, I underwent the biggest change of my life
I had been through so much horror, I no longer wished to write it
Hence, I am writing a thriller.
hard to sleep when you know your life is about to change... dreams coming true and you aren't sleeping! lol
Would love to see pics of the puppies! I love dogs. Take care of yourself... I am going to lay down and try and rest. Not use to all the action in my life.
Hey, Carole--we sure share a lot of similiar tastes in books (Cain, Chandler, Ellroy) and movies--doesn't get much better than Double Indemnity, does it?
Love reading your stuff, too! You've also got me looking for Ruth Rendell and Megan Abbott books now... like I'll have loads of time to read with B'con right around the corner and the program sitting unfinished on my computer!
Yes, it's even worse in the U.K. But the euro is getting there--about 140 today. When we first settled in Italy it was 85 cents and I keep planning (but I'm a great procrastinator) to bring the money we had in the states over so we could buy there. But then the euro keep going up and we kept waiting for it to go down, so here we are back in the states and unless I write a blockbuster, here to stay. Nice meeting you.
Hi Carole, thanks for the invite! Nice to meet you 'virtually' online, and I'm a writer who falls under your guidelines. I also have a prolonged love affair with the UK.
Yeah, I never know what to say back to folks either. I have to write part time, whenever I can meld time with inspiration. Lately don't seem to have much of either.
Hi Carole - whew, just back from the B'con steering committee meeting and head is reeling from all going on and to be done! You can make B'con happen in England! Five years ago our Alaska Sisters in Crime group decided we wanted B'con in Alaska and that it would be a once-in-an-Alaska-lifetime event for all involved. So we did it... mostly under the drive Dana Stabenow has to accomplish these things... and those involved in hosting Left Coast Crime 2001 here. They got the bid, and so now here it is! Five years of planning and working on this. My understanding is that any place can submit a bid for B'con, so go for it! What do you want to know? The graphics on here are so great - a bygone era. It's fun to escape.
Crimespace doesn't take up as much time as you might think. I tend to write during my lunch hour while at work and that seems to be the most productive time for me.
Well, thank you very much. I really hope you enjoy it. It's a bit different than most research books. Here's a review about the book written by Lost Dog author, Bill Cameron.
PUPPIES!!! Just stopping by to say hello my friend and waiting to see pics of the pups! My husband never lets me go into pet stores... we always come out with one.

Hi Carole, Thanks for the invite!
Forensic Artist? That means I draw dead people. If a body is found beyond recognition, I can do a sketch of that person that will hopefully lead to an identification. The majority of my work, however, is sketches from witness description, usually of bad guys who rob, rape or murder someone.
I don't know of any vampire legends in Alabama, but I'm not from around here. ;) I'm originally from Mississippi, so I don't know Alabama folklore.
Now, in Mississippi -- at least in the part that I'm from -- we had more to fear from swampmen and the Chatawa Monster than vampires. Guess that's one reason why the supernatural fascinates me.
I came to your page to see your dogs. They're beautiful! Dogs are my next favorite thing after books! I have a llasa-apso/poodle mix and my sister is bringing a puppy from her litter of chihuahuas for my daughter. We can't wait!
how nice! yes, they're great. Penny is the expectant Mom and Indiana Jones is the proud Papa to be. i'll put more photos up when I can. my husband is over hauling the computers and right now i don't have access to our photos. just the one i posted. i'd love to see that puppy when you get it. please post?
I will. I need to put some pictures on my page. Meanwhile, my Abby is here: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/293582 . Love the pictures of your dogs! There is no such thing as too many pictures!
Hey, Carole. Thanks for the invite and the kind words. Looks like we have a lot in common as far as old movies and hardboiled fiction go. My debut novel stole a lot from Double Indemnity, substituting a stockbroker for the insurance salesman. My 'hero' survives, however, as I want to keep writing about him.
How's your novel coming?
It's a great film Carole - a Jean Jacques Beineix film from the early 80s. Here's the synopsis from imdb:
"Two tapes, two Parisian mob killers, one corrupt policeman, an opera fan, a teenage thief, and the coolest philosopher ever filmed. All these characters twist their way through an intricate and stylish French language thriller." It's sort of a comedy, romance, thriller set in the world of opera.
No, my book (now a series) is set in today's world. I am hard at work on #3, and I understand your feelings. sometimes I'm happy; sometimes i'm worried it sucks.
I think most writers are like that. we're never sure.
Hi Carole - glad you liked the photo of Josie - she looks like a sister to Cyndi Martin's dog (also posted pics on here). She's a certified hearing guide dog, though, and won't be having puppies. Did your dog have her puppies yet? Really enjoying all the forums you start and comments you post-like the tattoo one below... you keep bringing out some of the most interesting facts about folks on here. It makes for great reading. In fact, Crimespace fills that craving to get back to the novels - some of the posts and discussions pull you back again and again, just like a great book!
Your granddad sounds like a wise man! And Josie is my hearing dog - I'm still deaf when I take off the speech processors (sorta like hearing aids, worn behind the ear, but nothing goes into the ear). I've been deaf about 40 years, and now can hear pretty well since getting the bionic ear surgery for both ears in June. Josie is my second hearing dog - the first was Rascal. Are you in the UK now or back in NY??? I'm still trying to figure out the time differences on here. It's nearly 10 am in Alaska on Saturday. My Aussie friends are already into tomorrow.
My husband is very hard of hearing. I see, she's your dog! Forty years?! never thought you were forty! You're okay, Karen and good luck with the surgery, you'll keep me posted! I'm in England. It's just after seven pm here, Saturday!! some time diff! what is that, nine hours difference?! wow. Actually i haven't been back to New York for 29 years! amazing, isn't it? thinking about time difference makes me crazy after awhile!
About those gremlins... grrr... they've discovered me, too. Nothing like writing the most inspirational blurb of your life, only to have one of those gremlins snatch it away... and you realize the first draft was it!
Uh, I don't really know how to use this crimespace whatever it is. I just pushed a button and ended up in this box where I can type. So, that's what I did. What now?
okay, now you have to accept being my friend! go up to the very top of the page. look in the left hand corner. all the way at the top where your ning identity is--you'll see two icons. one is an envelope and the other is a little persosn. click the person. and you accept (!) or decline me as your very first friend! go ahead, i'll wait and i@m writing but i'll still wait!
Thanks for the opening letter inaugurating my joining CrimeSpace. I appreciated that. Kind of like you enter a new neighborhood and someone actually says hello. Congrats on Penny. We had my father's vet give a complete medical exam to my first mare to see why she was overweight when I was in my teens. He told us she was healthy, and we should make sure she gets more exercise and less oats. The next day she gave birth. What do you think of that vet?
Let me know if there's anything I should know about this site, please.
Hi Carole! Thanks for accepting my invite and great hearing from you. Woodstock is beautiful and peaceful, and I'm just one of many ex-New York City people who discovered it. Sadly, I don't think my parents would have been caught dead there! (though it is a very funny thought!) Good luck in your writing and keep in touch!

Had to laugh when I saw your movie list...it could be my own...and I love French comedies as well!
My writing reflects your lists also. Always nice to run across a kindred spirit here!
