I'm a former reporter for The Arizona Republic and have covered many crime stories in Arizona, including the murder of Republic reporter Don Bolles in 1976.     I lived in Tucson for five years, from '83-'88. Even though I was born and raised in S.CA near the ocean, I still found an unbelievable beauty in the desert. We go back to visit friends every couple of years.

    Well, you wouldn't recognize it these days : new hotels, new houses, half-million euro duplex apartments in the center of town, American style supermarket with three levels of underground parking and an elevator that talks to you !
