Thanks for the add. I'm really enjoying this site, especially getting to meet crime fans from further afield than Cambridgeshire. What a diverse taste in films you have, I don't know Blood Simple so I'll check it out, all the best, Alison
Greetings from water-sodden Worcestershire - actually things aren't quite so bad. My daughters no longer need a canoe to visit. If you're wondering why I'm twittering it's because I'm trying to think of something new to say. HOWEVER, I love your film choice! E.V.
Hello, Meredith. Thank you for getting in touch. It's also nice to see some UK friends on your site. I'm on the sunny south coast of England, and once I get the hang of this site I will post some photos because I live sandwiched between two areas of outstanding natural beauty - Langstone and Chichester Harbours -where we sail-weather permitting. I was also interested in your comments about Bouchercon, I know some of my UK author friends attend. I like the way you have added book reviews to your page. This site looks so comprehensive and lively with lots of new authors and books to discover. I think I need to dedicate a day or two to sussing it all out and exploring it more fully.
Hi Meredith, and greetings from Australia. It's nice to be welcomed into new territory ... I'm still getting my bearings, so thanks for adding me as a friend.
Thanks for the invite!!! Meeting some wonderful people here... and an incredible amount of new and wondrous authors! 7th heaven is the basement... Crimespace is the Penthouse!!!
That’s a hell of a résumé on your website – happy to be on board.
Love NYC! Lived on East 22nd for a couple or years in the 70’s and it’s always great to get back and visit. Last was in 2000 when my wife had a short film showing in a festival so it has been way too long. She works as my sounding board, muse and editor of first and last resort. You and your husband obviously have a great relationship and it looks like you might have a rather interesting sense of humour – launching an Avon book in a Penguin house indeed!
Cheers.
Thanks for the invite, Meredith. I have a policy of not refusing anything to someone who takes boxing lessons. That has got me to 42 with a straight nose.
Thrillerfest in NYC? I bloody wish! As a Sag married to a Sag we tend to leave these things in the lap of the Gods and we pack fast and travel light. Actually I only recently encountered the thrillerwriters.org site and the first thing that grabbed me was the Thrillerfest promo. Have to sign up as a member before the next book comes out.
Sunny/cloudy/sunny morning here in beautiful Bondi. Been watching and loving MADMEN again. How does it rate with you guys on a modern Mad Avenue? As a youngster in a Melbourne photographic darkroom I once had to put together an ad for training bras in poplin. There were about fifteen paragraphs of copy encouraging mothers to bring their daughters in for a proper first fitting and I said to the agency creative director, ‘why not just say – Tweenage Bras in Pop-a-lin, pop along and pop-‘em-in!’ He gave me a strange look, walked away and came back the next morning and offered me a job as a trainee copywriter. I think the world is a much safer and happier place for the path that I chose.
Thank you so much for the invitation i have enjoyed reading your page very much, i am from Denise Mina's city and like you think she is a grand writer.
Hi, Meredith, it's good to have you as a friend. I once was a copywriter/typesetter/general nuisance at a small agency in Florida. Janet Evanovich is one author I never miss. Have you read Carl Hiassen? He writes hilarious mystery as well.
Hi Meredith. Thanks for the invite. I'm envious of your photo player widget - must go and see if I can get one of those to work on my page...
Cheers
Chris
Greetings from wet and windy Scotland (today at least), and thanks for the invite. I'm still trying to find my way round the Crimespace site, and I'll have to get my photo corrected.
OMG! You like JA Konrath too! He's such a cool guy. He said Jack Daniels was written with Sig Weaver in mind. But, of course, it's Galaxy Quest (buxom and svelte) instead of the 25-yo, Alien Sig. LOL.
Thanks for reaching out. I look forward to getting to know/read you. Congrats on all you've accomplished.
Your invitation is a great welcome to CrimeSpace. I live deep in the North Carolina mountains and highspeed internet is not available so I can't play your video. Cell phones don't work here either. I'll check out your video the next time I visit the library.
The Thin Man should have been listed in my favorites. I'll correct that. I did the list in a big hurry.
Agree with all your movies - possible exception being Conan. (I should see it again.)
Also don't recall Outrageous. . .unless it's about a transexual? Cult classic?
Love Lee Child and many of the other authors you mentioned. Been meaning to read Spencer-Fleming and Ken Bruen for about five years! (Met Bruen at a convention. What a charming gent.)
Hi Meredith, happy to be your friend. I like many of the same movies ... Blood Simple especially!! And how about Red Rock West?
Also like many of your authors, tho I tend more toward the gritty ones rather than the lighter fare. Have you read Lawrence Block's Keller series? As in Hitman, Hit List, etc. Hilarious. Highly recommended.
Must run. Hope you'll check out my New Orleans based crime thriller, Absolution. And, if you're into music, my website features bios of some fabulous women instrumentalists.
Happy to hear from you. Nice to see Bladerunner on your list of movies. It annoys me greatly that the version with the narration by Harrison Ford is not available on DVD in Australia. (my favourite version). Along with the first Mutant Ninja Turtles movie - always good for a giggle.
Hi Meredith: Just found CrimeSpace. My new book is about to be released by Oceanview in June. Book launch at Borders in Boca Raton on May 29th Wish me lucK!
I have a short story in the current issue of ELLERY QUEEN MYSTERY MAGAZINE (July 2008). It's called "Murder on the Main Line" and features a very unusual protagonist. Let me know if you see it and what you think!
Dear Meredith,
Thank you so much for inviting me to be your friend here on Crime Space.
You certainly have a busy life, don't you? I've always wondered what boxing was like. I bet it's wonderful exercise and it makes you feel totally alive!
I hope we become the best of friends and you can contact me any time you need me, ok?
Sincerely, ~Cynde
Hi, Meredith!
I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July and holiday weekend! (Sorry this is late--we had a death in the family.)
I hope all is well with you and I'll talk to you soon, Cynde
Thanks for finding me here. I'm very new and a little distracted at the moment. I've got a new book coming out - A Demon Awaits, October 15th. And I've got a book-to-movie in the works. I optioned the rights and there is a professional writing the script, but I do spend lots of time daydreaming, worrying and sometimes even advising.
