I'm the author of 5 detective novels in the Hannibal Jones series - Blood and Bone, Collateral Damage, The Troubleshooter, Damaged Goods and Russian Roulette, plus two action adventure novels, The Payback Assignment and The Orion Assignment. I'm active in several local writers organizations and I'm a past president of the Northern Virginia chapter of the Virginia Writers Club. I teach writing courses at Anne Arundel Community College. By day I'm a public affairs specialist for the Defense Department. For more than a decade the American Forces Network carried my radio and television news reports.
Anything David Morrell, Elmore Leonard, Ken Bruen, Libby Hellman, Bill Pronzini, James Ellroy, Laura Lippman, Lee Child, Harlan Corben or Paula Woods.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
MY BOOKS should be movies...starring Shemar Moore!:
In BLOOD AND BONE - An eighteen-year-old boy lies dying of leukemia. Kyle's only hope is a bone marrow transplant, but no one in his wealthy Virginia family can safely supply it. His last chance lies in finding his father, a man who disappeared before he was born. Police and private investigators can find nothing on a trail eighteen years cold.
Kyle's family has nowhere to turn until they learn of a certain troubleshooter, a self-styled knight errant in dark glasses named Hannibal Jones. He has two weeks to find the missing man, but his search turns up much more: A woman who might be Kyle's illegitimate sister, the woman who could be her mother, and the man who may have killed Kyle's father.
Hannibal follows a twisting, winding path of deception, conspiracy and greed, from Washington to Mexico, pursuing the truth. But with each step closer to it he gets, the danger grows.
Hi Meredith, and thanks for being my first CrimeFriend. Sararoga is an easy drive up from NYC, but we're not that far away either. Maybe I'll see you at Malice Domestic.
Jeff!! What's up buddy? Should have expected to find you here. I only started this page today and haven't quite mastered the whole "connect with your pals" thing yet... but I'm getting there and I'm sure glad you found me. ;-)
Hey, Austin. Good to see you here. And thanks for the invite. Yes, I will be at Malice. Let's catch up there. I finished the part of the book that we talked about at LIM. Onward. What's up with you?
Hey Libby!! Good on ya for finishing that section. I'm eager to maybe sneak an advanced peek. Buy ya a cup of coffee at Malice! I've been working on short stuff, oddly enough, for a couple of anthologies. When we meet again I'll show you mine if...
Okay Austin. Can't wait to read your novels. And if Shemar is starring in your movies well, I can ensure a hit with the ladies. Of course I am sure you already knew that.
Good to hear from you, LaTonya, and I'm anxious to read more of your stuff too. Especially since you're not far from my favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach. I don't have Shemar in a movie YET, but I'm keeping the pressure on because he'd be perfect for my detective. Think he had a CrimeSpace page???
Thanks for the mention in your newsletter. Are you planning to come to NY for BEA or to NJ for Deadly Ink? I'd love to get together and compare notes (and buy a round).
Hey Austin! I have not attended the Cape Fear Festival, but I have heard great things about it! This past year they did things a little different, in that most of their events were free and open to anyone in town that day! LOL..I was going to go, but didn't recognize any of the 'names' in attendance and then the date snuck up on me and passed me by! SO I missed it! Maybe next year! And you know my lasagna is always worth the price of plane fare, right? LOL
I look forward to seeing you, Allan. Love is Murder is the party that I open my writing year with, and it's always a gathering of friends. See you in a month. :-)
I live in Maryland, but belong to a Northern Virginia writers group. Would you be interested in stopping by a meeting sometime to share some of your experiences?
Well, we mustn't confuse activity with progress, L.J., but I do seem to be doing something right and getting readers. As Eeyore would say, "Thanks for noticing." :-)
Did you come up with Hannibal's given name before or after Harris's Hannibal Lecter? I ask only that Harris's villain's name casts some rather dark aspersions on any other character attempting to overcome the cannibal's stigma.
