Hi! I'm also a new member and I also have characters that reflect some of the unique problems and issues I have encounterd in the Deep South. My spoofy, supernatural suspense deals with some very serious things tongue in cheek, and was fun to write. I look forward to reading some of your writing. Welcome aboard! :-)

Good point! I could use some quiet writing time, plus, I love snow in a way that only someone who doesn't see a lot of it can love it. Every time I think I can take some time off, there seems to be an immediate crisis at work. That's okay. Too much time off would encourage me to goof off. LOL.

Thanks much, Donna. Best back atcha.

    Hi Donna,

Nice to meet you! I look forward to checking out your story - I actually was born in Etobicoke and grew up in Gravenhurst, not so far from T.O. in Canadian terms, anyway!
  • carole gill

Thank you so much for the compliment.
Yes, I suppose that's true! as you can see from my avatar, I am such an avid fan of noir films-and then came to the books! just saw Double Indemnity last night actually (husband away at a meeting) so it was just for me--he prefers action films (eck) so there I was, wallowing in all that noir stuff. fantastic!
And thanks so much for the invite, Donna!
As for your page, well! your family looks so wonderful and so very happy. you're blessed. but you know that I'm sure!
    again, thanks.
  • carole gill

    so right Donna!
    Yes, nothing like those classics.
    husband loves action films.
sometimes when we watch a good drama, i'll say, see? not one lousy special effect!
take postman rings twice, turner garfield version, they smoldered and they did it with no humping, no nudity.
they did it with facial expressions (as you pointed out).
and what they got with that film was a work of noir art--a noir classic.
so agree with you. and Bogey and Bacall?!
    two more favorites.
there are some great actors around now, but in my opinion, the magic--the stuff that dreams were made of (to coin a phrase)--that stuff is gone and so are the dreams. for me anyway.

Hi Donna, thanks for adding me.

Hi Donna - thanks for the friend invite. Rain is definitely my preferred weather, especially as we've been in drought for so long now. I'm sure that's why I'm behind in my reading :)
  • Stephen Burridge

Hi Donna, thanks for the comment. Yes, it's been cool in Ottawa. I like it. Today is a little warmer.
  • John McFetridge

Hi Donna, thanks for the interest in Everybody Knows... it's not the old Toronto, that's for sure.

I missed you at Bloody Words (I was on the Sex and Violence panel - that might be stereotyping ;) and I'm glad to hear the Giles Blunt reading was as good as expected. I 'opened' for him at a reading once and he is a great guy.
  • Rick Mofina
