A resident New Yorker, I often uses Manhattan and Long Island as backdrops for his stories. He has published two novels featuring street savvy NYPD Detective Stephanie Chalice: Don’t Close Your Eyes (2005), and Ransom Beach (2008). BookWire Review wrote of the character, “Chalice’s acerbic repartee is like an arsenal of nuclear missiles.” He has also published an international thriller entitled By Executive Order (2001). Early in his writing career he received support from best selling novelist, Nelson DeMille, who reviewed his work, and actually put pencil to paper to assist in the editing on his first novel. DeMille said of Kelter, “Lawrence Kelter reminds me of an early Robert Ludlum.” He was also a member of a private writer’s group hosted by soap opera legend and former AFTRA president, Ann Loring. His novels are quick paced, and routinely feature twist endings. He is also a screenwriter, who was honored for finishing in the top tier of The Nicholls Fellowship in Screenwriting Competition, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, for his screenplay Final Dignity (2001). He is currently working on several writing projects including the next Stephanie Chalice thriller. For more info take a peek at www.lawrencekelter.com.
The Gold Coast, Red Dragon (in my humble opinion superior to The Silence of The Lambs), Dracula, No Second Chance, The Winner. I could go on for ever, but those are the top five.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
South Park, Pimp My Ride, Two & a Half Men, The Simpsons, Family Guy (All high quality, intellectual entertainment), Criminal Minds, SVU, or is it SUV—I can never remember. Grey’s Anatomy, Man Vs. Wild, Big Bang Theory.
Thanks for the invite, Lawrence. Your resume is impressive. I took a quick look at the excerpt of your book--looks interesting. However, FYI, the quotation should be attributed to "Sheryl Crow."
Hi Lawrence! Thanks for adding me to your line-up of friends. I look forward to finding out more about you and your work. I hope you’ll check out my new thriller, IM, about a serial killer preying on gay men using Internet hookup sites.
Lawrence. thanks for the invitation, Who would have thought a small town guy from Wisconsin would get to meet the next Ludlum. Kidding aside I liked the excerpt and will put your stuff on my must read list. Allan
Thanks for the add! I'm a bit jealous, though...I love New York. California always seems ridiculously devoid of seasons right about now...best of luck with the writing!
Thanks for your invitation to be a friend. I'll check on your two novels.
I am a devotee of p.i. novels--all kinds, hard-boiled and lighthearted (James Lee Burke and Janet Evanovich, for example).
Hi Lawrence
Thanks for the add. Looking forward to reading some of your work. My first novel, WANT SOME GET SOME is about a bank robbery right after the LA riots. ENjoy!
Hi! Thanks for the invite! I married a New Yorker born in the Bronz, partly because he's never afraid of new experiences. (Mostly because I adore him!) I look forward to reading some gritty NYC crime, too. Up close and in my face, I hope. ;-p
Cracker Jacks, but if you're jonesing for
something to read, Judgment, my new short

Love it!:) and the sense of humor! I also like the knowledge I can dl your story for .49...I'm going to have to do that! AND buy a box of cracker jacks:)..
I like the sound of your detective novels and your thriller. I too favour twist endings and lots of twists and turns in the story. My writing has been described by a reviewer as being 'as sharp as a punch in the ribs' I thought that was pretty good but I love the description of your writing -'an arsenal of nuclear missiles' wow. Good luck and thanks for the invite.
Hey Lawrence I checked out your site and read the excert to Ransome Beach--very good going on my wish list --Love cop suspense stories looks like a great read.
Hey Lawrence,
I checked out your website. I can't wait to read both your books. I, too, am writing a novel. Mine is a murder mystery in the SF area. Did I mention I am from NY?

I grew up in LI. Moved to FL, then to Boston, and on to CA! I've been here 12 years and will never leave. It's heaven.
I live in N. CA not near LA. I've been down there to visit, but don't know if I can answer any questions about the place.
