Oh, Pat - we'll have to remedy that this year in NY, okay?
Thanks for saying hello - I'll be socializing with everyone soon -got lots to catch up on now that I'm off On The Bubble over at Murderati.
  • Paul Guyot

    Evil! We made it!

I think I took that picture of you, didn't I?

Isn't that from LCC in Monterey?
  • Elaine Flinn

We sure did, darlin'! What a feeling, huh?

No, not LCC in Monterey - you took that photo in Paris! Ohhh! How could you have forgotten?

    Hi Elaine,
I'm trying this to see if this message shows up in the right place--it might be that I don't know how to work this site yet. Are you going to Bouchercon '07? I'm planning to--sounds like fun! Get out the sweaters & mittens.
    a hui hou,
    Debby
  • Laura Benedict

Hi, Elaine. Thanks for being my Crimespace friend! (I won't tell the law you're here. Promise.)
  • Patti McCoy Jacob

Hey Elaine - I was told by this guy that you would make an excellent Crimespace friend, and since he is never wrong (that's what he told me, so he must be right), I am happy you accepted my request. His name is, uh... his name is, um... oh yeah, Paul. I think he's like this writer or something. Last name, you ask? Oh gosh. Starts with a J or a... no, no, starts with a G. Ends with a T. Bunch of vowels in between. It might be French. Or maybe Croatian.

Guyot! That's it. Paul Guyot. Yes, very good friend of mine.

    Welcome, Elaine :)

    Aloha, Debbie!
You made your way here fine! I'm still trying to figure this thing out too. Nope - not going to Alaska this year. Too much going on this time. But I'll be going to ThrillerFest - and you know for sure I'll see you on the Big Island, yeah?
Mahlo nui loa for be da kine frien Sistah!

    Hi Laura-
    Thanks for keeping my cover!
  • Elaine Flinn

    Hi Patti!
Paul Guyot? Sorry - doesn't ring a bell.
Okay - I'm fibbing. He's just so much fun to tease, huh? Always looking forward to meeting a friend of Paul's...he's so discerning. :)
  • Patti McCoy Jacob

Why, THANK you, Elaine. I agree - Paul is discerning, especially when it comes to his friends. Wanna know what he said about you? He said Elaine is a very dear friend of mine...

and, oh yes, she's one wild broad!

In my opinion, one of the best compliments ever.
  • Elaine Flinn

Wild broad? Ohhh...I just love that. I mean - at my age - that's one hell of a compliment! :) But hey - he pretty much said the same about you. :)
  • Patti McCoy Jacob

Me? A wild broad??? Oh gosh, Elaine, I don't know WHERE Paul gets that from! Cause I am about as straight-laced as... that is, I am the most conserva... I mean, they don't come any tamer than...

Okay, yeah, I guess I'm a little wild. I blame birth order for that. I am the 7th of 11 - being, how shall we say "vivacious?" was the only way someone buried in the middle of all those kids could get any attention... or a meal!

  • Elaine Flinn

Oh, sure, Patti. Try and convince me. LOL.
  • Patti McCoy Jacob

Oh my God, why did that show up on your chatterpage THREE TIMES??? All I can say is we're on vacation now up in Mammoth Mountain, and this computer in our room acted like it wasn't going to send you my chatter. I must've hit it a couple more times before giving up.

    Sorry...
  • Patricia

Hi Elaine, just popping in to say hi to another 4MA'er
  • Mary Saums

Hi, Elaine - good to see you here. I'm also popping around to try to figure things out. I was sorry to see On The Bubble on hiatus, but totally understand. There just isn't enough time to do everything. Yet, here I am, having fun when I should be working. :) Hey, a girl has to take a break every now and then, right? :)
  • Elaine Flinn

    Hi Patricia!
Great to see you here too! I think half of 4MA has already signed up!
  • Elaine Flinn

    Hello Mary!
Great to see you here as well! And thanks so much for the kind words about On The Bubble. It was a hard decision to make - it was loads of fun - but there are just so many hours in the day, right? I've had offers to keep it alive, so - maybe later in the year. First thing now is to take care of having another book ready by fall - and to give attention to a few mystery related volunteer committees...
  • Murderati

    Hi Elaine,
    How's it hanging ?
  • Elaine Flinn

    Hello, Murderati!
How's it hanging? Spring cleaning. I think that says it all. :)
  • Penny Rudolph

    Hey Elaine,
Nice to meet you. Anyone who likes the movie The Red Shoes is a friend of mine.
    --Penny
  • Bill Peschel

Thanks for inviting me. Looking forward to seeing you around here.
  • Penny Rudolph

Ahhhh, I suppose not all that many folks have seen the Red Shoes. Too bad for those who haven't. Maybe it was thought to be too artsy. How did you happen to see it?
  • Elaine Flinn

Years ago, Penny - on TV - and have seen it a few times since. Another great one was The Red Balloon - ever see that one? And then there was The King of Hearts with Alan Bates! Ah, they don't make movies like those anymore, huh? :)
  • Eric Stone

What kind of antiques did you sell? I recently gave a talk at a library about the new book- Grave Imports. Afterwards an elderly women came up and told me that she thought I ought to lead tour groups to Cambodia and that then I could show people where to buy antiques and how to get them out of the country and into the U.S. I was very polite in explaining that the point of the book was that this was a bad, not a good thing, and that of course I wasn't going to help her smuggle looted antiquities. Sheesh.
  • Elaine Flinn

Hi Eric! Sorry for the late reply-computer woes, you know? I sold English and Continental furniture and 'small's. She wanted you to help her commit a crime?? At her age, she should have known better! :) Glad you set her straight...she obviously didn't get the theme of your book. :)
  • Kelli Stanley

Thanks for the invite, you deliciously Evil columnist, you! ;)

Love the movies on your list, btw--The Sting is an all-time fav (I never tire of a movie with Eileen Brennan in it, never mind Redford and Newman). Ever see The Cheap Detective?

    Kelli
  • Elaine Flinn

    Hey, Kelli!
Thanks for the nice words! :) Stop by tomorrow, k?
    Evil
  • George Wilder Jr.

Thanks for the invite, Mae West. I meant, Elaine. LOL
  • Janet Reid

Thanks for the invite! You're looking quite spiffy in that feather boa! Have you seen that movie Diva? I have a feeling you might like it.
  • Elaine Flinn

    Well, thanks Janet & George!
    I'll check the movie out!
Stop by Evil E's Scoops tomorrow! http://www.evil-e.org
A few laughs for a Monday morning?

  • Bruce Findleton

    Hey Elaine,

Thanks for the invite. Congrats on the nice reviews for your latest.
  • Elaine Flinn

Thank YOU, Bruce! I'm beyond flattered and very appreciative. And it was very kind of you to mention it.

See? I'm not really Evil. :)
  • Joan Conwell

A belated thanks for the invite, Elaine! I love antiques. Beautiful objects with history are perfect fodder for stories. I look forward to catching up on your work...
  • Elaine Flinn

Thanks, Joan! Aha! Another antiques lover, eh? Hope you enjoy the Molly Doyle Mysteries then...filled with antiques, murder and mayhem...even if I do say so myself. :)

And come visit us at 'Evil E's Scoops'! It's up now... http://www.evil-e.org and meet a slew of writers...
  • Pari Noskin Taichert

    Elaine,
I've tried to get to your blog three times this morn and can't get through. Argh! Wanted to post congrats.

    http://www.evil-e.org
    And thanks vy mch!
  • Linda L. Richards

Ack! But of course you are, you should be. Ack! That's the danger of that thing. You, of course, handled the matter very sensibly. I shall do the same. (Well, something similar: I doan wanna, like, *completely* rip you off!)
  • Linda L. Richards

    There. 'Tis done.
  • Elaine Flinn

Okay, I still love you then. :) So give me an email, k?

  • Hailey Lind

Thanks for the add, Elaine! We sound like the beginning of a joke: A recovering antiques dealer and an ex-art forger walk into a bar....
  • Elaine Flinn

and then what happened, Hailey? I'm rivited! Did we have fun?
