Crime fiction writer, going to the dark side.My 7th novel, SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE, a stand alone thriller that goes back, in part, to the late Sixties, was released December, 2010.
TV: 24, The Shield, Desperate Housewives, Weeds, Damages
Movies: My favorite all time 5 are Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Battle of Algiers, Chinatown, and Casablanca...
Hm. Mustard is so easy to come by, though. I'm gonna say -- what I really need -- is a heart. I'll stick with your theme, Libby. Plus, I've always wanted to wear silver facepaint.
Now, does this make Sean the Scarecrow? And who will be our Dorothy? Jen ... ?
Ooo... I really screwed up Lori... accidentally deleted your post. That's what happens when you have too good a Friday night. Actually, I'm a little intimidated by the thought of Romantic Times... I've heard the stories about the men parading around in loin clothes and oiled bodies and nothing else... hmm....
Hi Libby, Thanks for being a friend. It's nice to put a face with the book. I'm in the process of reading A PICTURE OF GUILT. Hard to put down even though I'm fighting a deadline. Thanks for the thrills.
HI, Lynette. I'd much rather read than write anytime...deadline or not. I'm just thrilled that you're reading GUILT. Thank you. Tell me about the book you're writing...
Hi Libby, Thanks for the friend add. Looking forward to getting to know you. BTW -- I'll be in Chicago for a book tour next month. Any advice on what restaurant not to miss -- and what bookstore we just have to hit? Thanks! Cyndy
Whenever I see you I wonder how your daughter is doing. Last time I saw you to talk to you was in Texas and you said things were good. Having raised 5 through the teenage years--my heart goes out to anyone with a teen. But they all grew up and turned out okay--now I've got the grandkids to worry about.
Hi Libby. I finished Pict. of Guilt this weekend. I really enjoyed it. I love an MC who -- as my grandmother used to say -- spits pepper with her vinigar. I also finished the rewrites of my manuscript and got it in the mail. It's the sequel to Jilted By Death. Since I'd already done the outline, today I actually started on the third Willa Hinshaw mystery. Writing is like house work -- we seldom take a break from it do we?
Hey Libby, Sorry I have been just swamped. I was just down at the Jordans last week for spring break. I'm working with the library to possibly try and set something up. She sounds very positive about it. She is hoping to involve another library and a bookstore to. I will keep you informed.
you're the first person I came looking for but in the time it took me to even set up the page I had 4 requests for connections! I can see this is a hopping place. Just wanted to say howdy and hope to catch you at Malice Domestic.
Hi Libby, thanks for the invite. I see you're editing a Chicago Blues" anthology--weird coincidence my Hardluck Stories web-zine just released our Blues Noir issue. We also overlap with some of our favorite shows and movies... small world sometimes... Dave
Hi Libby, thanks for the book info... Just made it over to The Outfit and read your "light crime" piece. I feel the same way about Sin in Second City. I plan to pick it up next time I'm on at B&N. Sounds scandalous and I love Chicago history. You guys keep me updated on the goings on in Chicago better than WGN :o)
What am I doing in Washington. I'm drawn to the response to that question made by Jake Giddis (Jack Nicholson) in Chinatown: "As little as possible." Given that my humorously former fraternity brother Steve Hadley is now National Security Advisor I can probably get away with joking "Plotting the overthrow of the government" -- hi, Steve, I know you're listening in -- but this particular government is doing too good a job of plotting its own downfall, so why waste the effort? No, I am but a humble writer who had just finished a 188,000 word novel. As they say in press conferences here, "Next quesiton." It goes from me to you Why did you leave Washington. Your answer these days is "Why wouldn't anyone leave Washington." No? goesuuqvKnowst ;oologcofgono< S'tg ttionanuy jjiomit dline
No, I didn't know you grew up in DC. I think of you as Chicago, through and through. (Trust me, as a Pittsburgh native who lived in Chicago for three years between DC stints, thinking you're a Chicagoan is high praise.) Thanks for the friend invite, and I'll look forward to seeing you here and on The Outfit.
Libby,
I just saw a nice plug for CHICAGO BLUES on the Crime Fiction Dossier blog. Good to see the word is getting out, and continued success with this project.
Congratulations on your presentation. It was as crisp and concise as you write. As yousaid you don't recomend books on how to write but you sure as hell could write one.
Libby,
It was a pleasure to meet you last night at the Pikesville library. I enjoy your and Cara's comments, and I'm looking forward to reading CHICAGO BLUES,as well as EASY INNOCENCE, though that one may have to wait for my TBR pile to reach manageable proportions.
I'm looking forward to seeing you again at Bouchercon.
Libby,
I finished CHICAGO BLUES last night, not a weak story in the bunch, though I thought The Outfit, along with Stuart Kaminsky and Max Allan Collins were the headliners. As irony would have it, I read most of the book on a plane flying to and from Chicago, or in my hotel during a business trip this past week. Kind of set the scene for me.
