I took the plunge this year (after one too many mergers at my day job) and am now a part-time bookseller--poorer but happier. More writing time and less number crunching make for a good day.
I'm forging ahead with my mystery and a few short stories as well when I'm not recommending my favorite authors to others.

Hi Maryann, Thanks. I'm really happy with the new book, and with Bleak House, the new publisher. I will be in Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday October 24-25. Welcome to this thing, it seems like its getting to be pretty useful - and fun.
I forgot to ask - Bleak House's publicist is currently hunting for venues for a couple of signings in Chicago. I can't recall which B&N you're at. Do you think your place would be good for a signing? Thanks.
I have thought about it, but I usually attend Left Coast Crime right around the same time and I can't usually manage to attend more than two or three a year - Bouchercon is also always on the list. I hope to get a chance one of these days. My sister lives in Chicago so I always enjoy visiting in any event.
Sorry about the delay with the book. I checked with the folks at Writers Digest Books again yesterday and they assured me that everything was on time on their end. There was a larger demand for the book than originally thought (that's a good thing I suppose) so it'll just a take a week or two to iron things out. Hopefully... Again, sorry for the delay.
Thanks for inviting me. Yes, I understand about your daughter's situation for sure! My sister lives in Intracoastal City down by the wetlands and she lost her home. My bother is in NOLA and my parents in Lafayette. When Katrina struck of was up in the Applachian Mountains working on The Beatitudes. So, that's why I'm donating all royalties to the NOLA Library Foundation. The book became available this past Tuesay!!! At Amazon.com, search books , Lyn LeJeune, The Beatitudes. Best get the paperback if you are interested. And plaes do pass the word around.
Thanks for the reply. You will not belive this but I received an email from HIM - yes, James Lee Burke asking me to bring him a copy of his book when he gets back to New Iberia from Montana...yes, I'm sooooo nervous. And Alafair is a lovely young woman.
Thanks, but I just don't think I'm going to get a chance to get down there. My schedule is pretty tight at this point. Maybe sometime on my next trip to Illinois though. I do like getting around to as many bookstores as possible.
Hi Mary Ann.. how wonderful to meet you... again...!
Chicago Blues won't be out until October. But you are invited to the launch on Oct 12 at Legends downtown, 5-8 pm. We'll have plenty of copies there. And I'd love to meet you face to face! We're also doing a number of events (check my website for time and places).. and Borders will be carrying a LOT of the trade paperbacks. So... you should have no problem finding it!
And thanks for reading the OUtfit and commenting so often... When you don't, I sometimes think.. gee, it must not have been a very good entry...
Yes, it is cool. The picture on the cover of his short stories - of the cemetery inundated with water - I used to wait right there on the sidewalk to take the city bus to college.
Oh, please buy from amazon.com....the money gets moving much faster. and thank. Let me know what you think. And just to chat. I'll for sure let you know when I actually get to meet James Lee - can't you just hear his mother calling him into supper when he was a kid Lames Lee!
Thanks for adding me! I haven't read the books you mentioned but now I'm intrigued. I'm going to add them to my wish list at Amazon so I can order them next time. Thanks!
