    Camilla,

Thanks for your comment about *The Road.* As I have said many times, it is the best book I have read since college. The best new writer to me since I discovered Phillip Roth.

    Camilla--

The series is contemporary, set in Tucson--but I'd love to send my heroine to Venice, and Ireland (Waterford), and Paris (Lalique/Baccarat)... Maybe if the series takes off!

Thanks for your kind words--I'll have to check out your Trouble With series.

Hi, Camilla - How exciting about your new thriller. I look forward to reading it. Soho is one of my favorite presses. I've loved every book I've bought of theirs. Best of luck with it!

Hi Camilla, I had to invite you to be a friend because of your name. I have a sister named Camilla. I love the name and am writing a new book where a Camilla has a staring part. It is going to be a surprise for my sister. I'm going to look for your series.

LOL, yes a bit mysterious! Thank you for your words of encouragement. The world tells us that we have to strive with determination for that one goal...

I look forward to talking with you more and becoming better friends. Kris (with the shades on)

    Hi Camilla,

We have Soho and New York City in common. I've read some excellent reviews of "The Price of Silence," and look forward to reading it.
  • Camilla Trinchieri

Thanks Grace. I look forward to reading you too. Soho is a fantastic press. Who is/was your editor? Katie Herman edited me. She's the one who came up with the title. I'm bad at those. Ciao camilla

    Hi Camilla,

We do have a lot in common. Miguel used to have studios in Brooklyn, formerly in Greenpoint, and in what was the Brooklyn Eagle Warehouse. Are you a figurative painter?

The name of my book is "The Last Enemy," but I will confess in advance that you will find the occasional spelling error in Italian--I had the Italian text vetted by a number of friends in Assisi, but the only one who picked them up was the person I didn't ask to read! Of course!

Laura Hruska is my editor, and very thorough. She's reading the latest, "A Deadly Paradise," at the moment, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this time she doesn't find any misplaced dashes.

We live on 36th between Madison and Fifth, but will be away in Maine for a bit, beginning Monday. Perhaps we can get together when we return. You have a lot in common with Miguel as well.
  • Elizabeth Zelvin

Hi Camilla. I too am sure we've met. At Black Orchid? A DorothyL lunch? And yes, I attend both MWA and SinC events in NYC. Nice to see you here. :) Best, Liz

Thanks Camilla, particularly for your offer to vet some of the Italian in new book. Miguel's Italian is very good, but he can't spell, even in Spanish. I have a few expressions in this book that I would love to send to you to see if they're correct. If you would be willing to do this, I would be very appreciative.

Also, we're leaving for Maine Monday and returning a week later and then back to Maine on August 26 until Thanksgiving. However, I'll be here the week of August 20 and will be going down to Soho to review line edits. If you're around that week, perhaps we could meet for lunch. And thanks so much for buying my book. Very much appreciated.

  • Darren Laws

It is a pleasure to meet so many nice people here at Crimespace.
  • Darren Laws

Hi Camilla, you make a good point, but occassionally it is nice to have a little distraction. I think the online now feature does Crimespace a disservice but it is just my point of view. Thanks for the reply, I am now logging off once more so I can finish the edit on my next novel and no longer be tempted to see if there is anybody out there.

Hi Camilla! I was cruising through MySpace sending Valentine wishes to my friends. If it's not in your message box, I said: My all kinds of love come your way: romance, intimacy, friendship, family, community. I hope you've got April 15 on your calendar for my launch and birthday party at the Mysterious Bookshop! Maybe we'll even get to a DorothyL lunch before then. :)
