Busy Weekend - http://www.marylandwriters.org/conferences-2007.html

This weekend will be a busy one for me. Saturday, as president of the Maryland Writers Association I will preside over our annual writers conference. From 8 am to 6:30 pm in the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute of Technology - 692 Maritime Boulevard, Linthicum Heights, MD - we will present sessions led by established authors, instructors, and experts. We've created a program of value to all writers, from the most basic beginner to the long time published author.

I'm very proud to have Baltimore literary giant Rafael Alvarez as our keynote speaker. After two decades on the City Desk of The Baltimore Sun, Alvarez went on to publish a couple of books of short stories and become a staff writer on HBO's The Wire. He will share his experience as a fiction/nonfiction/screen writer with us during the lunch break.

Aside from the keynote address, attendees will be able to meet one-on-one with agents and editors, and choose from 25 sessions on a variety of topics including mine on The Power of Great Dialog. Not to mention, the chance to network with established authors and freelance writers. If you're a writer within driving distance, you need to be there.
