Yelling a question

That's the way Daniel refers to posting on Forum, and as it implies a certain amount of despair, I thought I'd post this question.

 

I've tried for months now to find a way to post a cover image on BLOG. I have consulted HELP (where the subject isn't covered), I have followed John Dishon's instrctions (to no avail), I have tried to post it first as PHOTO (I got an error message), and I've e-mailed Daniel (who has posted an image from MY PAGE, but not told me how I can get an image from my computer to BLOG. And yes, I've waited 30 minutes for it to load and nothing.

 

So, since the rest of you have no problems whatsoever:  how do you do it?

Thanks, Naomi. That was very kind. I'm using a jpeg file . My mistake may be that I start with the photo icon rather than with the complete blogpost. Otherwise, I have followed all the steps for downloading the cover, but it keeps going for 30 minutes or more without producing an image. Since I haven't started with the text, I don't get to the edit. Will copy your instructions and try again tomorrow, though it seems wrong somehow to post a blog about a cover without knowing if it will show up.

Okay, just tested, and it took all of two seconds for the image to post.

So...

What size is the image you're trying to upload? How many megabites is it? Maybe you need to try a smaller image file? Connected question, are you on dialup or dsl or cable? That can affect how quickly the image will upload as well.

I'm on broadband (fiber optic cable), Pepper. I'm not at all sure about image size. It's the size I use to e-mail stuff and the one the computer picks to copy to jpeg.

Go ahead and send it, and I'll see if I can get it to post. If it posts, it may be something else, like maybe a setting on your firewall that's blocking it or something.

Firewall? I doubt I have such a thing. I did turn off the pop-up thing. Didn't help.

Okay, I figured out why it wasn't going to upload to your blog. It's been fixed, and I've sent you a workable copy for your blog.

A firewall is a piece of software that protects your computer while you're surfing the internet. It's designed to keep other people from getting into your computer. If your computer is directly connected to your modem, you might want some sort of software to ward off intruders, if you haven't already got something. If you're wireless, you'll probably have an anti-spyware/anti-virus program already, since those are often pre-loaded when you buy computers these days.
