Here's a crime scene from my neighborhood. We had a shooting along a major thoughfare in our little metro area. It started out as a traffic stop where the subject exited the car firing a rifle at the 18 months-new traffic officer. The officer was not injured and managed to draw and return fire. The subject got back into his vehicle and drove 100 yards with a gsw to his shoulder before exiting, shooting again and then running through the 10 acre yard of a local pulp and paper factory and jumping into the river. The detectives had to secure the two shooting scenes on the four lane roadway in front of the factory before it's third shift let out, then had to shut down the pulp yard while they processed the run-though and some how secure the river bank. The suspect was arrested 48 hours later hiding in his mothers house 40 miles away. The car he abandoned on the roadway was filled with loaded guns and hunting rifles. He was apparently on his way to a local nursing home convince his ex girlfriend (who worked there) to rekindle their flame of romance.
Ah, the things we do for love. Romantic, isn't it? I may be wrong in thinking this, but wouldn't a gift of flowers been a better approach?
