I'm a writer. I kinda love it. I kinda hate it. But mostly I love it. I grew up in Bradford, Arkansas, and have always lived in the South, so that's where I set my thrillers. My books have been described as creepy and disturbing. I write about dark secrets and old murders, dusty backroads and murky bayous.

Hey Amanda---So glad you finally made it here. Your CS site looks great, like the rest of your website & blogs. Robin Burcell threw down the gauntlet for cliches on the main page. You should check it out. Donna is way ahead of all of us. funny stuff.
And Dennis, The Dollmaker is seriously GOOD!! This woman knows how to write an atmospheric setting (New Orleans) and memorable characters. Great Stuff!! I'm a fan.
Amanda, thanks for your note. Lucky you to have even a tape of the complete Twin Peaks. Once Bravo ran a marathon and I taped it all -- getting up at 3 or 4am to switch tapes. Thank god for TiVo. Now, if they would just release it on dvd...
Hi. Thanks for the invite. I grew up in Hot Springs, AR and have finally made it back. I don't think I know where Bradford, Arkansas is! Time for the Arkansas map!
I just clicked on the praise and review section of your Web site and read the comments posted about you book, "The Doll Maker." I'm impressed. Thanks for the invite.
Did I mention on myspace that we LOVE MST3K at our house? Santa brought us many DVDs from Overstock.com. (But I would never buy books there--no never!)
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for your comment on my Writers Plot blog, "There is No Off Switch On the Crying Machine." It is always good to know you are not alone--though it can sure feel like it at times. And miracle of miracles, my daughter showed up for a surprise visit for my birthday last week. "Happiness is not a state of being ..." (a quote from someone very smart, whose name I cannot remember).
I didn't realize you live in Houston. Are you in MWA? I haven't been to many meetings lately because having Lyme and writing books is about all I can handle right now. Hope your new book does well. Looks scary as hell. :-)

Thanks! And you know, it always easier to point out the "flaws" in someone else's work. I'm sure people have a field day with my own in the critique groups. You need a fresh set of eyes on anything. They help get rid of the Little Darlings and inconsistencies and just plain bad writing.
Problem is, I get the books when they are ready to print or already printed. There's no more room to improve and you have to review it based on what's there, not what could have been.
I could write a novel on this topic. I'd better stop now while the sun is still up. =0)
Thanks for the shout back. Yeah, I TIVO the shows I'm already addicted to, and studiously avoid TV otherwise...
wait, I just peeked...
Oh, no.. I'm hooked on a new one!

Oooh, I came to say thanks for dropping by and for the nice things you said about "The Marian Kind", but I see you have a very tasty tid-bit of your own on the table. Sounds great! Go you!
Hi Amanda, I love your trailer! It's really spooky. I have a relative who never had kids but who is very artistic and creative. She makes beautiful dolls and period-perfect outfits. They're worthy of going into a museum. But sometimes, when you're in the dollmaking studio, with all the perfect little dolls staring at you, it's a bit...scary!
Yikes....the doll scared me. Speaking of murkey bayous My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.
The blogsite www.beatitudesinneworleans.blogspot.com describes the Network, has excerpts from The Beatitudes, recipes, and more. Merci mille fois. Lyn Lejeune.
Writers, please pass the word…..it’s for a good cause….don’t let the libraries of New Orleans or the US go the way of The Great Library of Alexandria. P.S. just posted an excerpt on my Crimespace page.

I'd be delighted to be on your friends' list. Terrific trailer for "The Dollmaker", by the way. It can't help but sell a lot of copies.
Best of luck on all your projects.
