Novels: The Song Is You, Die a Little and, in June, Queenpin, about an aging gang moll and her young protegee.
Nonfiction: The Street Was Mine, which focuses on the "tough guy" figure in hardboiled fiction and film noir.
Loved The Song is You. I was actually interviewed for one of those man-on-the-street things for the local paper about what book I was reading at the moment and it happened to be The Song is You. So, if you see a bump in sales from Bangor, Maine - that was me.
Hey, Jon! Steven is a great interviewer, boy. (Although I no longer have any memory of what I said)
I'm going to visit your page shortly...this crimespace thing is pretty nifty...
Hey, Steve--thanks! I'm still tryhing to figure this darn thing out--but I just peeked at your blog and we have a staggering number of favorite books in common--isn't Revolutionary Road a heartbreaker?
Hey Megan. Just finished The Song Is You. "Cherries in the snow lusciousness" is just about the greatest description I've ever read. Kickass isn't strong enough a compliment. Fantastic fucking job, doll.
No, it doesn't get any better. And I'd include you as well. Believe me! Double Indemnity is my favorite film. Love the novel, too. You must have a special feel for the 1940's. I know I do. Unfortunately, I wasted so much time writing horror, but now. I'm immerseing myself in all things hardboiled and will try to contribute something also. again thanks.
Hi Megan,
I was wondering if you have any tips for where to go for research for my P. I. novel set in the late 1940s. I live in England--would you happen to know of any good online resources? I look just about every day. appreciate it. thanks!
Hi, Megan. Great to see you joining the Noir City Sentinel as a columnist. Your first entry on Deadline at Dawn was terrific. I caught the movie at Noir City in Seattle and was bewitched, bothered and bewildered by it.
I haven't seen SOMETHING WILD, but if this trailer is any indication it'd be worth seeking out. It's never been available on video, apparently. And with original music by Aaron Copland!
OMG! Super-duper-pow congrats! I'm so freakin' thrilled - QUEENPIN was one of my absolute favorite reads last year. So glad to see you get the props you deserve.
Jon Jordan
The interview you did for us with Steven Torres turned out great. And it just shipped out on Monday. Thanks.
