Good, good selection of authors and drama. Historical crime is one of my favorites.

Thanks, Jack. Historical Crime was my introduction to the whole crime/thriller/mystery genre, so I retain a soft spot for it, even if I don't read as much of it now as I once did.

Welcome Steven. I'm only about a week "older" in Crimespace teerms than you. Definitely still learning my way around and find the system has some odd quirks. I, too, am doing a diploma in writing with crime writing my chosen genre. One thing I've founed is that writing is the easy part. It is the promoting, selling and getting agents/publishers to look at your work that is the hard part. Good luck with your endeavours. Write on.

Thanks Tony. I have my first manuscript, a speculative fiction novel, doing the rounds of publishers now, so I'm starting to appreciate just how tricky it can be to get work read. But I'll hang in there.

    Hi Steven,

What an honest introduction you've given yourself. I'm no expert but happy for you to ask me anything that you think I might know.

    Hi Craigh
So glad to hear that you have novel "doing the rounds of publishers." Best wishes on that.
The character discussion is fascinating. I always start out with a "character sheet," but soon abandon it as the story and characters evolve. My novels do tend to be plot driven, though.
