Profile Information

Hometown:
City of the Angels
About Me:
(Revised!) Jazz musician (alto sax, flute, clarinet, performed with Paul Horn and Stan Kenton years and years ago)

Freelance and sometime ghostwriter (poetry, musical criticism, metaphysical subjects including Western and Vedic astrology)
I Am A:
Writer
Books And Authors I Like:
Lilian Jackson Braun, Dashiell Hammet, Raymond Chandler, Charles Bukowski, Henry Miller, Anais Nin, Eckhart Tolle, Ramana Maharshi, numerous others... and favorite (non-crime writer) is undoubtedly Sir Winston Graham, author of the Poldark series which I have recently revisited after many years... If only I were able to speak in the 19th Century English Cornwall dialect I would be more in my element... And for criminal acts including the murder of a 98 year old relative, it's hard to beat Sir Winston's George Warleggan and his skinflint of a father.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Watch NO cable or tv (too invasive with mind-numbing commercials)

Some Favorites in Film: Chinatown, LA Confidential, Double Indemnity, DOA, Cinema Paradiso, Il Postino, Bread and Tulips, The Tale Guy (British comedy), anything by Fellini, Nine (the musical, even if the majority of critics hated it), Henry & June, PBS American Masters series (recent viewings on Man Ray, and Alfred Stieglitz), BBC Poldark series, Ken Burns docs: Jazz, The War, Baseball, Lewis & Clark); anything related to WW2, and anything related to wordplay, foreplay, and HUMOR of any kind that is not solely based on the customary use of foul $#*@ language... I follow where my interests go... no set pattern... I am essentially a loner.

Welcome! I hope you had a good weekend :) I just wanted to introduce myself, and my blog, The Book Buff: Book Reviews for Regular People. Check it out at http://www.thebookbuff.blogspot.com

It can be a bit overwhelming around here at first, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
