I'm glad that you accepted my invite, it looks like you caused controversy with your positive view of Black Rain! I kind of agree with those that don't like it, but I haven't seen it in years. Maybe I'll take another look!
BLACK RAIN, if I'm not mistaken, actually marked Douglas's first (and IMO, best) attempt at the "troubled cop" role he eventually ran into the ground. For those who've never seen BR, I'd recommend you not prejudge it based upon the sorry cop movies Douglas went on to make later. Hokey? Yeah, no doubt. And not terribly credible? Ditto. But the film was shot like something out of this world and it moves like a freight train. It's an action film---what else can you ask for?
Black Rain? You mean with Andy Garcia and Michael Douglas? In which Michael Douglas plays ... wait for it ... a troubled cop. Now wait a minute. Was that Basic Instincts? No, that was Sharon Stone, not Andy Garcia. I never get those two confused, do you?

What was not to like about Black Rain? It's the best Bruckheimer/Simpson movie ever made---because neither Bruckheimer nor Simpson had anything to do with it!

Nice to see your smiling face on here. And I agree. Black Rain was a great movie. (Have we ever agreed on anything before?) ;-)
I understand the sentiment...some want sit away from me on a plane and others believe that next to me is the safest place onboard...

Okay, Gar. I'm with you on all the other movies, especially Hickey and Boggs. But Black Rain? Jesus!
