I've lived down here for over 27 years now, my wife's home area. I'd rather be somewhere else, but I've gotten used to the small town life. I'm going back to N.N a couple times in the next two weeks for visits.

Yes, you should begin seeking agency and publication as soon as you've edited your ms as best you can. It won't do a thing for you sitting in a drawer, except remind you of its limitations. There are plenty who will do that for you. No use helping them.
Who knows, you might strike pay dirt out of the gate. Nurture your stories like you would your child, give it everything you have.
