I submitted a story to Thuglit last year, and the editors came back with a suggestion that made it a much better story, as it better conveyed my vision for the story. That's the kind of editing I can get behind. I don't want an editor to tell me w...

I'm a short story writer, so when editors have a go at one of mine, there's not a lot of room to go crazy. Editors at Woman's World changed the title of a story of mine - to a much better one! Editor Michael Mallory turned an okay little murder st...

My editor greatly strengthened my latest manuscript; every suggestion was right-on. It's a much better book due to her insights.

Profile Information

About Me:
I am the author of the forthcoming Vincent Dove Tales, a crime fiction series of novels featuring lottery winning, very early retired penpushing civil servant, and reluctant amateur sleuth Vincent 'Lonesome' Dove, located in the fictional northern town of Walliston, somewhere in the middle of what was once the ancient kingdom of Northumbria.
The first novel in the series, 'Last Dance Saloon', finds the town in the grip of a serial killer dubbed the Walliston Ripper. Dove's tranquil life is turned upside down when one of the victims is someone very close to him and things get personal. I am hoping to see the first novel in print by 2011.
The second novel has a transatlantic feel to it, with gambling and murder intertwined and a dramatic climax in the casinos of Las Vegas. The third novel sees Dove confronted with modern day vampires, ghosts and an ancient curse. Further novels are draft works in progress. To be continued...
I have been an honorary Texan for many years, courtesy of mystery writer Kinky Friedman, and have visited the Lone Star State on a number of occasions. I also have a great affection for the Northumberland coast and Las Vegas, not that they have much in common. I guess they are uniquely beautiful in their own way.
