About Hill's and Gabaldon's gay characters, as you asked: I like Wield a lot, but I'm still not convinced he would really have settled down with someone as prissy as Digweed. And I like Lord John in the Outlander books but wasn't as taken with the first mystery. And I'm perfectly convinced by his crush on Jamie Fraser--he shares it with everyone who's ever read Outlander, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. ;) Liz
