After two successful careers, you'd think a guy could slow down and smell the roses. Not me. I'm looking for new challenges, opportunities and ways to grow. As a community volunteer independent author/publisher and chauffeur to a teenage daughter, I find all sorts of things to do. I'm discovering new horizons every day. Come on along and see what sort of trouble I can create.
I was fortunate and most blessed to meet Kate Hoyer while at Stetson University. I had floundered for a purpose for several years. That all changed when I met Kate. I may not have known what I wanted to do in life, but I knew I wanted to do it with this beautiful young woman. I set a career course in law enforcement, left the doubts behind and got on with my life. We married in 1980 and the experience of sharing my life with a good woman has transformed me.
I started my law enforcement career with the DeLand, Fl Police Department while still a student at Stetson University. I moved to Gainesville, Fl and began work with the University of Florida Police Department in 1979. Promoting from Patrolman through the ranks ultimately to Captain I worked in a variety of positions including Investigator, Evidence Custodian, Crime Scene Technician, Public Information and Crime Prevention Officer. I studied and certified in various law enforcement specialties including Crime Scene Operations, Law Enforcement Training and Crime Prevention. I am certified in Crime Scene Analysis, Fingerprint Identification, Crime Prevention Practitioner, Community-Oriented Policing and have been an instructor in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Crime Scene, Report Writing, and Leadership & Supervision. I retired from Law Enforcement after nearly 30 years.
After closing my Law enforcement career, I dove into technology sales with a position at an international firm specializing in Investigative and Intelligence analysis software. I was floored by my success. I traveled extensively, even internationally, finding I could still help people with their problems. After four years, however, the hectic travel schedule became a burden and I found I was not spending enough the time with my wife and daughter. I retired yet again.
So what does a twice-retired cop/salesman do? I have always been a voracious reader. I love historical novels, thrillers, police procedurals and mysteries. I found myself with time on my hands, long-forgotten hobbies to take up, lots of books to read and many experiences and stories to share. Now I read, write, enjoy having new adventures.
