After several years in newspapers and television in Shreveport and Lafayette, Louisiana and radio in Mississippi, I began managing three non-profits as Executive Dir., Columbus Pilgrimage, Exec. Dir.,Columbus Arts Council, Exec. Dir., Main Street program in Brevard, NC. Throughout this time, I wrote freelance travel articles about the American South and parts of Europe for various pubs., about 150 total. I have written 14 travel and guide books, Two ghost-written. Now, I write exclusively for myself and clients, for print and broadcast. Initially, I went through a publisher to write about historic homes, then began to self-publish with my husband as a partner. He does the financials, sales, and computer production. I conceptualize books, write, do PR, speaking engagements, and some sales. I am now at work on a mystery about Southern women who take the law into their own hands to punish wife and child abusers who escape justice. The women are terminally ill but able to find and punish abusers. A director of development in Hollywood is interested in doing a film of this book. It is copyrighted.

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.
Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.
The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
Glad you joined, Sylvia. I'm sorry that we did not get to visit at the Authors' Extravaganza in Hattiesburg earlier this month. That was quite a crowd! I hope to see you again soon. Happy Holidays, Darden North
