Hi, Mike,
I was just looking through some photos of my space friends and noticed the Packers jersey. Boy, does that bring back some memories of their best days, the '60s, when Hornung, Starr, Dowler, Jordan, Jim Taylor, et al, played. I know Henry Jordan died at 43, I believe, of a heart attack. He was a native of my hometown and used to come by the high school and play basketball with our coaches, including Lefty Driesell, and some of the players, during the Christmas break. We had to promise him not to let it out because Lombardi would shoot him. I played against his younger brother, Gene.
Jordan was a terrific athlete. Only about 5-10, 225, but he had great speed and agility. In fact, he was NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion at U.VA. in the late '50s. His high school, Warwick, turned out some of the best college & pro football players in the country, including Michael Vick, Frank Emmanuel, Norman Snead, Jordon, and
Tommy Feemster, among a couple others, not bad for a small southern city back then.
As an old football nut, though not so much any more, I'll never forget the first Super Bowl, when they beat Kansas City.
You should - Glasgow's a great place - not as pretty as Edinburgh, but very vibrant and good fun. Edinburgh has some great crime fiction too - such as Al Guthrie and Tony Black. And you mention Louise Welsh for Glasgow - have you tried Denise Mina?
Hey, Mike,
Gee, I love the pictures. Welcome to my part of the space.
Please have a free read on me with my novel, FOUL SHOT, at my site, www.PVT-i.COM, when you have the time.
Hope you can enjoy it.
Hi guy,
Anybody ever say you look like Michael Connelly in a couple of your pics? Except for the ones where you look like a black lab. Just kidding, that. Best wishes.
Labeled them. I think we took about that many in the UK last time we were there too. Have hundreds of Oxford and more or London. I tried to identify them - there are four or so from Berlin as well.
Some pictures are London, some Oxford and a couple are from Berlin. You have some pretty good photos on here too. I need to edit the information on mine yet - was too busy sorting them yesterday and did not get the last bit done.
Hi Mike... You asked about the Portsmouth area and if it's picturesque. Picturesque might be the wrong word. Lots of very attractive bits, but it's a working port city as well. I love the area.
