Dead Bunny is now on KIndle!

I travel the subway in Toronto pretty frequently so there's no missing the fact that a lot of people are doing their reading on Kindle and a wide variety of other electronic devices with equally unlikely names. And up until now my mystery novel Dead Bunny was only available in that primitive "book" format. Hard to believe people still risk injury to fingers and wrists by manipulating those clumsy masses of paper and glue. I've heard that until the Kindle came along, 3 out of every 19…

Oh, Those Blog Tours!

They'll tell you an author can't succeed without them, but at a certain point, this one sure wishes she could!

My blog tour for DEAD FOR THE MONEY starts this week, and the schedule is printed below. There are of course prizes if you're willing to visit blogs and make comments between now and June 7th (even comments on this blog will work). LL Publications provided invaluable help with the tour in the form of a publicist who contacted all the bloggers and made dates for me to visit.…

What's It Like to Be Dead?

The second Dead Detective Mystery, DEAD FOR THE MONEY, comes out on Friday, and the publicist for LL-Publishing has arranged a blog tour for me beginning in May. (This in itself is cool, because I've always had to arrange my own before.) In most of the posts, I'll be letting Seamus, Dead Detective, explain his view of things. I'll keep you apprised of the schedule as it develops.

So what is it like to be dead? There are so many possible answers that the mind boggles. Some say death is…

#90 of 100 Best Mysteries of All Time: Billy Dead

Billy Dead by Lisa Reardon. Viking Publishers 1998; in print

Not an ordinary crime novel.  The story is shocking, hard, and to some, I’m sure, distasteful. It’s also heartrending, compassionate and creates a reality so strong, the characters and events linger long long after the pages have been read and the book closed and perhaps traveling on to the next reader. Read more at…

What Was I Thinking?

Some time ago, my editor at LL asked when I might be finished with the second book of the Dead Detective series. After a pseudo-scientifi process, I told her June. Wrong. Here's why. First, I am an incurable optimist. I tell myself that I will write for four hours/day, five days/week. That never happens, of course. Life intervenes. Second, creativity does not like being forced. Even if I could sit before my computer for four hours a day, five days a week, much of that time would be spent… Continue

Readers Review DEAD of KNIGHT-A Jack Staal Mystery and post to Amazon.com

'Dead of Knight' a Thrilling Mystery

By E. Chan (New York, New York )

I have to admit, I am a big mystery buff. And because it is my favorite genre of literature, I'll also admit that whenever I pick up a mystery book, I have absurdly high expectations for that book (which, sadly, are usually left unfulfilled).

Not this book. William Potter crafts his novel in a way that keeps the reader flipping the pages, eager for the next plot twist. The viewpoint of… Continue

Dead of Knight is a Cat and Mouse Thrill Ride

Author William R. Potter takes the reader into the heart and soul of his protagonist and into the warped mind of a psychopath. Potter's first full length novel, Dead of Knight is told from the point-of-view of Detective Jack Staal and from the perspective of a killer who murders women on their birthdays.

Through clever use of back story, we learn that Detective Staal is suffering from post-traumatic stress after a horrific shooting. Unable to… Continue
