I gave up on the second of the GIRL WITH/WHO series.
Yup.
I just don't care.
It's hard for me to like a protagonist who is so weird, so amoral, so flat.
It's irritating to me that someone did not edit out the thousands of details that (I guess) are supposed to add to the story but instead draw it out. I don't care how many T-shirts, cups, chairs, and bedsheets the woman bought.
I seldom like the "I'll get that person if it's the last thing I ever do" plotline.
I will…

Though not the largest award in the world I am still pleased to say that
'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' was given the accolade of 'Erin Aislinn's Book Cover of the Week' for the week commencing 28th July 2008. It's always nice to be appreciated and this small award is just as important to me as any of the larger ones that the book has so far picked up. 'A Study in Red'…

What follows is the introduction and first chapter of the book. I'll be happy to post a further short extract at a later date, but for now, I hope this may whet a few appetites.

Soon after the release of my novel 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper', I was approached by the editor of the Journal of 'The Whitechapel Society 1888' and asked to write an article for their June issue, telling of the genesis of the book. The society, based in London, studies not only the crimes of Jack the Ripper, but the history of Victorian and Edwardian London in general. I felt privileged to be asked to contribute to the journal of this prestigious society, and the…

Here's the latest review to appear on the Amazon.com (US) site. I particularly appreciate this lady's words as she appears to be something of a Ripper student who normally doesn't read fictional works on the subject. I read her other reviews of a number of ripper books and four stars appears to be her top rating for any of them

'A Study in Red' has this morning reached the heady heights of #16 in the Amazon.co.uk Jack the Ripper books bestselling listings, it's highest position yet. Yesterday it was at #41, so some serious sales have taken place in the last 24 hours to cause such a meteoric rise up the chart. I never thought my book would ever appear in a Best Seller list of any sort, so I'm more than thrilled with it's performance.
I'm delighted and amazed at such a sudden surge in interest in the…

The following message has appeared on the forums at Casebook.com, one of the world's leading sites dealing with research and information on the Jack the Ripper crimes of 1888. The writer of the message is the subscriptions manager of The Whitechapel Scociety 1888, another prestigious organisation which holds regular meetings in London for the purpose of studying the Ripper crimes and Victorian London's history in general. What a wonderful review!

Wow, 'A Study in Red' just rose to number 21 in the Amazon UK best selling Jack the Ripper book listings. This morning it was at 33, having reached number 27 earlier in the week. This is great although it can just as easily slip down the chart again by tomorrow or even tonight as I believe the listings are updated almost hourly according to sales records.
For now, though, I consider that a great position to have reached against so many very fine books by very illustrious authors. I'm…
