Good News For Murder Mystery Writers

There's good news in the midst of all the doom and gloom recession - for murder mystery writers like me that is (I hope)! According to an article in the Saturday Telegraph Review section today, 'Misery memoirs will nosedive in favour of romances and murder mysteries.' Yes, I hear you all cry.

Copy edits, Cornwall and Newcastle

I have just finished going through the copy-edit proofs for DEAD MAN'S WHARF, the new DI Andy Horton marine mystery crime novel due to be published in hardback on 29 April 2009. In Cold Daylight Now Published in Poland

Curl up with a Marine Mystery this Christmas

What's good enough for Dan Brown and Random House is good enough for me. Random House US is launching a major advertising campaign in the USA on 23 November, with Dan Brown and other notables from the world of fiction, showing consumers that books make an ideal Christmas present. So, in my own little way I thought I'd beat the drum for the UK.

Latest book news and forthcoming marine mysteries

I’ve just received from my publisher my copies of the Large Print version of Deadly Waters, which is now on sale. It looks really good and I hope it enables people who are visually impaired (sadly a growing number) to enjoy this marine mystery crime novel.

Deadly Waters is already available as a talking book and in hardback and trade paperback and will shortly be published as a mass market paperback in the UK with a new jacket cover in April… Continue

Carry On Writing

It’s hectic on the writing front at the moment with time off for a quick photoshoot for a newspaper. I am currently writing the fifth DI Horton Marine Mystery, as well as revising three of my business books which are set for publication in May 2009. Which do you prefer the creative writing process or the revisions?

I’ve just finished writing the first draft of a new DI Horton marine mystery crime novel with a feeling of relief and exhilaration. Of course, this is nowhere near the finished version, in fact there are chunks missing at the end of the novel (although the last chapter is there of a kind), and not all the facts tie up and certainly the clues and red herrings aren’t all in place. But now I feel released from that great sense of urgency to get everything down on paper (or rather computer screen)… Continue

A View To Die For

Returned from London this morning after a reception held in Penguin Publishers office yesterday evening. Their offices are in the Strand and in what used to be the Shell building. The function room has a balcony overlooking the Thames and it was a scorching hot sunny evening with a view to die for.
