Great blog for book lovers

one of my favorite local authors, Richard Gazala, started an interesting new blog. He mentioned me in his first post, so I thought I’d share the link with you. So far, Rich’s blog has been well worth the reading. http://www.rgazala.blogspot.com

Author UPdate

Much has happened since my last post here.First, I had a great book signing at the Annapolis Bookstore. It’s one of the last great independent bookstores in my area, with a café and a nice selection of used, antique and new books.I made a lot of new friends that day.

I also signed books at the monthly luncheon put on by…

Meet Me in MD this weekend!

Saturday I’ll have a book signing at the Annapolis Bookstore. This great local independent bookstore and café has a nice selection of used, antique and new books. Stop by between 3pm and 6pm to chat and pick up an autographed copy of one of my mysteries or thrillers. In fact, if you get more than one I'll buy you a cup of their excellent coffee. The store is at 35 Maryland Ave., Annapolis, MD. …

Great site for mystery fans

As its name implies, Free Ebooks.net allows you to download ebooks for free after you register. There are several categories of books, including mysteries, so you can quickly find just what you’re looking for.

The free membership allows you to download five books per month in PDF or several ebook formats. They also offer unlimited downloads with their premium membership, and you may find it worth it for $7.95/month. Either way, it’s a great…

Another Cool Mystery

I reviewed Stairway to the Bottom by Michael Haskins for the International Thriller Writers. Some of my favorite mystery novels star an investigator dragged into a case he originally had no interest in and that’s just what happens to investigative journalist Mick Murphy in this new book.

Author Update

I had a great time at the Epicure Cafe at their weekly literary event called Beatniks & Butterflies. We did a couple of fun writing exercises, and I read from two of my novels. After I answered a few questions there was some open mike time, when other writers got a chance to read from their work. All in all, a fun regular time for local…

Happy Thanksgiving!

On Thanksgiving day we should think of those who started the tradition. According to H.U. Westermayer the Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. In their honor, let's make this more than that day when gluttony becomes a patriotic duty, and remember that grace isn't just a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal. It's a way to live.

Another Cool Review

Don Collier is the current president of the Northern Virginia chapter of the Virginia Writer's Club. As

such he is the driving force behind a most impressive cadre of aspiring, emerging and established authors and I am proud to be among them. Don also recently read my novel The Troubleshooter and was kind enough to send me his impressions. I appreciated his taking the time, and made his comments the

featured review on my web site -…

Author Update

Veterans Day weekend was a great time for me at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market! Not only did I sign a record number of books, but I managed to do some of my most important Christmas shopping. I also met book club members who invited me to their meetings, and folks who invited me to sign books at their luncheon. If I didn't see you there, well we're both sorry! http://www.ascamacho.com

Veterans Day

Today I want to remind you that this nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. That freedom is never free. And that we often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. Let's make sure our veterans never feel their sacrifices are taken for granted.

Meet Me at the Northern VA Christmas Market

Wondering what to do with this three-day weekend? Why not join me and about 300 artisans at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market? They'll offer a diverse selection of fine arts, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, wood, photography, fiber arts and Christmas collectibles. Plus, 20 food vendors will offer gift-packaged gourmet fare such as almond pound cakes, holiday cookies, spicy salsas, fudge-by-the-pound, fruit cakes, sparkling cider and homemade jams and jellies. These tasty homemade goodies… Continue

Another Great Review

I last saw Dennis LaRaja at George Mason University where I did a reading as part of the Fall for the Book

event. He was one of the first people to buy The Piranha Assignment and later wrote to say that he gets great pleasure and comfort being with my characters Morgan Stark and Felicity O'Brien. In fact he commented that he would probably enjoy reading about them doing their laundry or some other mundane chore for a few chapters just to be with them and listen to…

Writer visit to College

You never know what will happen when you go to a book signing. Last week at the Northern Virginia Community College I got into deep discussions with students about the art and craft of writing fiction. And bookstore manager Verity and I laid the groundwork for several future possibilities: author panels at the school, a writing lecture series, and even an effort to produce a Hannibal Jones play. I expect to spend a lot of time at the Alexandria Campus in the future.… Continue

Another Cool Review

John Berten is one of the reviewers who received an advance readers copy of The Piranha Assignment. He

had some very positive things to say about my novel, and posted them on Amazon.com. It was the first reader review of The Piranha Assignment posted there. What makes it really cool is that what John

Berten
posted is a video review. Take a look!… Continue

Meet me in VA today!

In support of higher education, and the cultural uplifting of our full time students, I will hold a book signing at the Northern Virginia Community college today. Halloween is the perfect day for me to talk about something as scary as nuclear devastation, so signing The Piranha Assignment is appropriate. If you're in or near Northern Virginia, come visit me Monday at that NVCC Alexandria Campus Bookstore, 3001 N Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA. I'll be there from 2pm to 6pm.
