As I mentioned earlier, I'm going to have a Saturday Spotlight for authors I've come to know and whose work I've come to enjoy along my recent journey as a newly published author.
Thanks to the Internet and assorted Yahoo groups, I feel like I've come to know Jenyfer pretty well in the last year even though she's an American currently living in Cairo, Egypt with her husband and two children. In addition to being a mother, domestic goddess, and author, she also quilts and drinks a lot of wine to distract herself from her Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie addiction (and addiction I share, by the way, and conquer only by storing the GSTM in the freezer).
Her third book, All the Way Home, is coming in March 2008 from Cerridwen Press.
Here's what she told me about her book that's currently out, Here To Stay:
"I wrote Here to Stay after a visit to Asbury Park, New Jersey in March. The weather was so cold and bleak and the houses along the shore looked so forlorn and decrepit, I couldn't help but write a story to go with the surroundings. I've always loved to look at old houses and think about how I'd like to fix them up but this was the first time I was inspired to write an entire novel! "
Here's a blurb for Here To Stay:
All Julia Sullivan wanted was a fresh start in a new place. But she was finding out that cutting ties with the past and starting over can be a difficult thing to do.
After leaving her husband and quitting her job, Julia was emotionally spent. She needed a quiet place to recharge and to think about what she wanted from life. She thought she had found just that when she inherited her aunt's oceanfront Victorian house in Haven, New Jersey. It wasn't going to be that simple, however. In addition to her new house being a complete shambles, her charming soon-to-be ex-husband Patrick, whom she discovers she still loves, arrives with the intention of winning her back. To complicate matters further, it seems as if her aunt's death wasn't an accident after all. And there's just something about her new house that seems to interest all sorts of people.
