Most of my days are ordinary. Occasionally, there's a depressing one, but that feeling tends to pass with work.

So I like to mark days when hopeful things happen, and today two happened in one morning:

1. I typed "The End" for my new novel, feeling pretty good about it -- even though plenty of small changes loom for another month.

2. I signed two contracts, one for translation rights for two novels, and one for audio recording rights for five.

It would be nice if this would signal a good year -- the year of the rat. I could use a good year for a change.

Jeez! Three comments! Another good day!
Thanks all.
Naomi, I hope this works out for you. Your series deserves it. I've been quietly waiting since 2002 because I love audio books. At some point I wondered if my agent just wasn't that much into audio deals. WRONG!!! My sales have been mediocre but are picking up slightly. There are still days when I get angry at all kinds of things. Where are the readers? By now they should be passing the word.
But I see elsewhere that we write in a very crowded market. It's hard to keep your head above water.
In any case, all good luck with all your current endeavors and an audio deal.

Yay! Quite fabulous. I'm hoping to get audio deals for my books. As you know, Ingrid, it's tough to get those for PBO books. But you give me hope. (Actually something may be coming down the pipeline very soon!) Solidarity, sister.
