Four private eye films from the early 1940s, with Lloyd Nolan offering a sharp, surprisingly contemporary take on the gumshoe - and before Humphrey Bogart ever donned a fedora. (Metaphorically, I mean. Men always wore hats in those days.) P.I. fans will want to check these movies out.
