Winslow, Don - ISLE OF JOY – VG

Originally published as “A Winter Spy” by McDonald Lloyd, the basic plot is thinly based on the affair between John Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. But there’s so much more to the book than that. Winslow’s writing is wonderful and his depiction of New York in the 1950’s puts you right there. Winslow is now writing erotica, but I really miss him as a mystery author. If you’ve not read either of the Walter Withers books, of which this is one, or the Neal Carey series, or “The Death and Life of Bobby Z”, or “California Fire and Life”, you should.
