In Book 2, Artemis Fowl joins forces with the fairies, who are in the midst of a goblin uprising, to rescue his father from the Russian Mafiya. In Book 3, Artemis tries to pull off one last deal, but ends up having to again join forces with the fairies to save his loyal bodyguard.

This is a well-written, delightful series, even if I somewhat question having the hero of a YA series be a criminal mastermind.
