Joe Pickett is caught in the middle between two sets of bad guys, one of whom works for the government, with the murder of a much-hated bureaucrat. A couple of bloodthirsty FBI agents are determined to use the incident as an excuse to attack a group of survivalists, a la Waco, Matters turn personal when Joe's foster daughter is kidnapped by her troubled mother, now living in the survivalist camp.

This series gets better with each book. The character takes on more dimension and the issue of law versus justice is always fascinating.
