EAST SIDE (Police Procedural-NYC-Cont) – G John Mackie – 3rd in series
Onyx Fiction, 2004 – Paperback

It’s winter in New York City, Priests are being murdered a card of Our Lady of Fatima left behind and a letter sent to the New York Post from The Soldier claiming credit. Detective Sergeant Thornton Savage and his team are under pressure to solve the crimes before the Pope visits New York.

This was a very enjoyable police procedural which, to me, captured the feel of New York. I did feel I’d have been better having read the previous books in the series to understand the characters better, but it was still fast paced and had a couple good twists. While not exceptional, it’s a good page-turning read.
