Who knew? I didn't think it was this easy to make friends so quickly. And all I had to do was register my name and put up a small photo. Since you've all been asking so nicely to be linked as friends, I think I should probably take a moment to at least introduce myself, just so you know what you're getting into.

Born in the small Midwestern town of Ames, Iowa, which received honorable mention in Neal Stephenson's Cryptomnomicon, I was raised in the Des Moines area and moved to Beloit, Wisconsin to attend, where else, Beloit College. There I (intentionally) received her B.S. in Creative Writing and also in Ecology and Evolutionary Behavioral Biology. The most common response to my educational path has been, "That's an interesting combination." But I will say, I had my reasons.
After graduating and getting married, I returned to my roots and spent a year as a part time student at Iowa State University (also mentioned by Neal Stephenson) where I partook in such classes as Shakespeare and the History of Science. Since my life failed to come to an abrupt end in spite of my declaration that the return to Ames meant it had come full circle, I started the process of applying to graduate writing programs, which had the happy result of my acceptance at and participation in the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast Low Residency MFA. Five bi-annual, eleven-day residencies in Maine (or two years) later, I was anointed a master in the fine art of creative writing.

With the first 132 polished pages of my literary mystery novel Steel Unfolding under one arm
and my diploma under the other, I moved on to a suburb of the Emerald City, Seattle, Washington, and continued the revision process. At the end of this past summer
, I declared my first novel submission-worthy, and began the frustrating, gut twisting process of searching out someone to represent it. At the end of January, for reasons relating to my husband's job, he and I migrated further down the west coast to a little desert town north and east of L.A.
For the time being, I have three main goals, find a job (preferrably one that takes advantage of my education and training), find an agent to represent Steel Unfolding, and continue writing.

Any questions?
