There's talk going on that CBS is thinking about rebooting the old '70's cop show 'Hawaii Five-O.' J.J. Abrams (the latest Star Trek movie,) is being mentione being involved--so it has the potential of having a good prduction qualities to it.

But who'll play the head role Jack Lord (I think that was his name) had as the lead? Like all other reboots, you gotta sit back and take the wait-and-see attitude. It might work. It might not.

The networks do like to have an "exotic locale" show on the air and something with an existing fan-base always helps with publicity, especially since so much publicity these days is this kind of thing - people talking about it on social networks and blogging and tweeting and all that.

With Southland being cancelled this week, it's looking more and more like expensive network shows will be playing it even safer.

Paul---Chris Isaacs? Interesting choice. But he doesn't strike me as being the tough guy Jack Lord could put forward.

Oh, no doubt, I like the money. Right now I'm technically unemployed as everything is sort of pay as you go. I got hired for the first season. Now, IF there's a second season I MIGHT get hired again, though just as often TV shows hire new writers to, "keep it fresh."

Here's hoping...

So you're still technically employed. Which, as they tell me, is good. Heck, someday I might try it--earning money off my writing abilities. Sounds innovative.

CBS own it for a few years anyway. The plan right now, as I've heard (you can imagine how far down the chain of command writer is) is that CBS will be advertising the show pretty heavily in January - mostly during the NFL playoffs (the show skews a little male) and the Super Bowl and then putting it on sometime in early February.

It'll be on in Canada by then for sure and it's also been sold to most European countries (Germany, Italy, France) as well as South America so it'll be on there.

What's the feeling about shopping the show around as an indie?

It was bad news when Southland got cancelled last week before it even started. The first 13 episodes were, I thought, terrific and I was sure looking forward to this season. After six episodes were filmed, NBC cancelled the show without airing any.

The Excuse seems to be that Southland couldn't go on at 9:00 and with Jay Leno at 10:00 NBC had no time slots.

So it's tough to get a show on the air. There are 13 episodes of The Bridge filmed and waiting to go, we're just waiting for CBS to schedule it.

To be honest, we were pretty shocked when CBS bought a show aout a union leader.
