A lot has happened since my last update. For one thing I had a couple of successful book signings. I ended last year at the Borders Express in White Marsh Mall and started this year at Borders in Dulles Airport. It was after the big storms we’ve had on the East Coast, but lots of people were still stuck which was good for book sales.

Also, I wrote a review for The Big Thrill, the newsletter of the International Thriller Writers, of a new novel called “Dead on Arrival” by Jackie Griffey. As I said in my review, humor and thrills combine to make this one a lively read. Read my review of Dead on Arrival at

Her writing aside, author Jackie Griffey is a hoot. You can get to know her better on her own blog, Break time with Jackie. Check it out at

February is Black history month. Margaret Oleksa wrote a great article entitled “Celebrate Black History month with Virginia African-American authors” for the Washington Examiner, which highlights several local authors including yours truly. Read it at

This is a good place for me to introduce you to another African American mystery author, Quintin Peterson. Quintin is with the Washington DC police and he was recently interviewed by Marilyn Meredith for her blog, Marilyn's Musings. Quintin is also one of my co-authors in the upcoming anthology “Bad Cop, No Donut: Tales of Police Behaving Badly.” Meet him on Marilyn’s Musings at

As you make your plans for the rest of the year, you should know that I’ll be on a panel at the Virginia Festival of the Book. Mark your calendars! See what I’m doing at the VA Festival of the book at
