Novel Contest

Dan Coleman over at Crimespace is holding a novel contest. The details are below:

* PURPOSE: To discover publish-worthy fiction novels written in English by self-published authors.

* FREE ENTRY.

* CATEGORIES:  ADULT MYSTERY, THRILLER, LITERARY. No Sci-Fi/Fantasy, erotica, techno, or children's stories, no graphic violence or perversion against/toward children.

* PRIZES: $50(U.S.) 1st Prize, $25 each(U.S.) 2nd & 3rd Prizes(paid via cashier's checks). Funding is limited(first submitted, first considered, in order), so there might be stories honored past the first three prizes for which there is no money available, but such authors will be announced by Blog Post here and on my Facebook page, as well as my Web site(when the kinks are worked out).

* LENGTH: 60,000-150,000 words approx.

* FORMAT: PRINTED ONLY in paperback or hardcover, no ebooks.

* JUDGING: Done by independent, volunteer, unpaid readers experienced and avid in the genres, at least three for each entry, whose names and bios shall be announced only with their permission at contest end.

* CRITERIA: Story Interest, Writing Skill(hook, description, plot, characterization, etc.), Editorial Quality(covers not judged) for novels judges feel are professionally written and are worthy of purchasing and reading by the public.

* DEADLINES: Open now, entries on a rolling basis, winners announced as they are discovered, until our eyes grow together, we're overwhelmed, or we burn out. But all entries received, until closing, will be read and judged in order of receipt.

* TO ENTER: Supply your email address to [e-mail](no attachments, please), then send one copy(will not be returned) postage-paid in either softcover or hardcover to a mailing address supplied to you privately.

* Authors' personal information will not be distributed to anyone, except for basic bios supplied by winners for public announcements.

* Content of any work is the responsibility of the author/entrant. Contest host and judges assume no  liability for content of the stories. All rights remain those of the legal owners of the stories, and no story, nor fraction of a story, entered will be published by the contest host, past a cursory review. Contest host and judges reserve the right to refuse awarding of prizes for any or all works deemed not of a professional quality.
