Hi Elizabeth, thanks for adding me. I will be checking out your cybershrink site - how intriguing. Congratulations of having your first mystery published!
Gender AND addictions, Dennis. It was a book for clinicians about gender-specific aspects of treating addictions. I coedited and wrote the chapter on codependency (on the women side, though believe me, there are codependent men). There are more men than women with gambling addictions and sexual dependencies, more women than men with eating disorders. What made this book special was that usually, "gender" in the title is code, meaning the book is just about women. ;)
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the friend invite. Gender addictions? That sounds fascinating. Any examples? Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go - sport on TV, right now!
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for inviting me and best of luck with your novel. I've wanted to write all my life, but only decided to write for publication when I was forty and didn't publish until 50.
Hi Elizabeth,
It's great to see you on this site and to brag that I've considered you a friend for a couple of years now, ever since meeting at a Sisters in Crime conference in Manhattan. Your perseverence has been a source of inspiration to me. I'm delighted that you landed a contract with St. Martin's, and I look forward to reading your book, especially you and I both deal with mental health issues - bipolar disorder in mine, alcoholism in yours.
That's a great title: DEATH WILL GET YOU SOBER... sure makes me want get behind it ... or under it ... or forego my couple of pints in the pub next time!
Thanks to all who have dropped by my page to say hello. I'm still trying to figure out if there's a way to contact all my Crimespace Friends at once--and if announcing stuff like new book publication will be OK or Not Done here. I'm in no personal hurry--DEATH WILL GET YOU SOBER won't be out till 2008.
Hi, Elizabeth - nice to meet you, and congrats on your new novel! I sold my first thriller two months ago, so I'm reasonably sure I know EXACTLY how you feel! Best of luck with it -
Congratulations on your forthcoming book, Elizabeth -- I'm sure I'll see you around here on Crimespree! (I've taken to calling it Crimespree; hope that's allowed).
